District Champs Place Seven On All-ECC Squads; Hjelming Player of the Year

Posted on: November 7, 2019

In a historic season that featured a district championship and a runner-up finish at Regionals, the Milford boys soccer team has been richly rewarded with seven student-athletes earning All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference honors. At the top of the list is senior Noah Hjelming, who shared the Athlete of the Year Award and earned a first team all-league berth.

Joining Hjelming on the top squad were junior Jacob Haskins and fellow senior Joey Round. Seniors Kyle Boehm and Josh Henke, along with sophomore Ryan Henke were second team honorees, while senior Noah Burnett picked up honorable mention.

Hjelming had a stellar final prep campaign, leading the league with a staggering 17 assists. His 33 points ranked third in the league, while his eight goals were just outside the top-10. Hjelming becomes the first conference player of the year from Milford since Ryan Grothaus was tabbed the top Fort Ancient Valley Conference player in 2008.

Haskins’ contributions couldn’t be measure by numbers. He was a top defensive player, while adding a goal and two assists on offense.

Round was a scoring machine, topping all league players with 17 goals and 44 points and tacking on 10 assists. He finished with a trio of hat tricks, including a three-goal, two-assist performance against West Clermont.

Boehm also had a solid year, finishing with five goals, eight assists and 18 points. Josh Henke had three goals and two assists, while younger brother Ryan tacked on 11 goals and a pair of assists. Only two players scored more goals in the league than Burnett who finished with 15 tallies.
