Posted on: June 1, 2021

Four members of the Milford baseball team were recently recognized by the Eastern Cincinnati Conference coaches as all-conference members for the 2021 season. First team honorees were Jonathan Baker and Chase Herrell, while Tyler Hewlett was picked to the second team. Mason Frank rounds out the list as the Eagles’ honorable mention choice.

Baker was an instrumental piece of all phases of the Eagles game, batting lead-off, manning shortstop and being one of Milford’s top pitchers. At the dish, Baker hit a team-high .382, while also topping the squad in doubles (10), triples (4) and sharing the RBI lead (21). On the hill, he split time working as a starter and out of the bullpen. Over 12 appearances, including six starts, the senior totaled a win-loss record of 2-3, with a 2.45 ERA and three saves. He also struck out 42 in 40 innings.

Herrell made his mark on the hill, collecting five wins in his first prep season. In 40.2 innings, the sophomore struck out 37. As a hitter, Herrell shared the team lead in RBI with 21, collecting four doubles, two triples and a home run, while batting .263.

Hewlett’s senior campaign saw him start at catcher in all 29 contests, hitting an outstanding .330. Of his 31 hits, five were doubles. Hewlett also totaled 17 RBI on the campaign.

Frank hit .241 this spring, picking up four doubles and driving in nine runs.
