Eagles Clobber Turpin In Regular Season Finale

Posted on: October 21, 2022

Milford showed its playoff ready by scoring points in all three facets of the game as they rolled past Turpin 56-21 to finish the regular season 8-2 and 7-2 in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference. Austin Hardin tossed four touchdown passes while Natwan Webster scored three on the ground to lead the offense. The defense came through with a safety, while Jacob Smith returned a kickoff for a touchdown for the second time this season on special teams.

The Eagles are now set for a home playoff contest next Friday night. While the exact opponent will be announced on Sunday, it’s projected that Milford will be the No. 7 seed in its region and host No. 10 Western Hills.

Hardin and the Eagles offense wasted little time getting on the board as the senior signal caller tossed first quarter TDs to Luke Ray (39 yards) and Reece Davis (20 yards). William Riesenberg gave Milford its first safety since 2018 early in the second quarter when he sacked the Turpin QB in the end zone.

Webster blasted in from two yards out on the ensuring Eagle possession to put the visitors up 22-0. Turpin finally broke through with a TD at the 3:06 mark, but the scoring for the half was far from over. Just 38 seconds later, Ray was celebrating his second TD of the night after a 41-yard TD reception. Following an INT by Smith, Cam Livingston darted 57 yards for a fourth Hardin TD throw of the night to make it 36-7 with just over a minute to play.

The Spartans used a trick play to score again with seven ticks remaining, but Smith made a house call on the kickoff, going 83 yards for his third special teams touchdown of the season.

The scoring slowed down in the second half thanks to a running clock, with a pair of short Webster TD runs sandwiched around Turpin’s Will Schroeder’s second TD reception of the night.

The evening was full of standout performances by the Eagles:
• Hardin eclipsed the 300-yard passing mark (301) for the fourth time this season and the sixth time in his career.
• Webster topped the century mark with 107 yards, giving him three 100-yard games this year and five for his career.
• Ray had 105 yards receiving to earn his second career 100-yard game, while Livingston finished with 115 yards; also the second time he’s gone over 100 yards.
• The Livingston-Ray duo also become the second set of Eagle receivers this year to each top 100 yards in the same game.
