Milford’s magical football season ended in the OHSAA Division I regional semifinals as the Eagles fell to Colerain, Ohio’s No. 1 team by a 48-14 score. After scoring a touchdown to tie the game early at seven-all, Milford couldn’t stop a Colerain attack that saw the Cardinals run off 41 consecutive points to take a huge lead into halftime.
Colerain struck first on a 29-yard run by JJ Davis, but fumbled on its next possession to hand the ball back to the Eagles. Milford moved down the field to tie the game when Hunter Johnson found Dylan Hughes in the back of the end zone from 34 yards out. With 5:25 remaining in the first, the game was all knotted at seven.
But then Colerain took over, first scoring on a 14-yard run by Syncere Jones, before its defense turned up the heat. On three straight Milford possessions, Colerain recorded interceptions it returned for touchdowns, highlighted by a 100-yard score by Jakar Patterson. Another score by Davis and a 59-yard rumble by Ivan Pace, Jr. made it 48-7 Cardinals at the half.
The Eagles scored the only points of the second half midway through the fourth quarter when sophomore LB turned RB Caleb Johns plowed in from two yards out.
