Eagles Ground n Pound Loveland To Retain Victory Bell

Posted on: September 17, 2021

Milford had a night to remember as the Eagles rushed for 456 yards and outlasted rival Loveland 48-34 in the annual battle for the Miami Township Victory Bell. Natwan Webster and Tofa Luani led the way, finishing with 182 and 180 yards respectively, with the latter finding the endzone for six touchdowns. The win extends Milford’s win streak over Loveland to six straight.

The fireworks started early in the game with Luani finding the endzone for the first time and Loveland answering just 16 seconds later. Webster and Luani would each find paydirt before the half, but the Tigers answered both, sending the two teams into the half knotted at 21.

Luani scored once in the third and again early in the fourth, giving Milford a comfortable 35-21 lead. Loveland countered with a score, but Luani matched it with his fifth TD to increase the lead back to 14. The Tigers came back once more to cut the deficit to 42-34, but Luani put the game away, rumbling 49 yards with just over two minutes remaining for touchdown number six and ultimately the dagger.

The Eagles nearly had a trio of 100-yard rushers as Sawyer Copp finished with 84 yards. Webster’s 182 yards were the most by an Eagle since Cameron Kells ripped off 194 yards against West Clermont in 2018. The twin 100-yard rushers were the first by Milford since Dawson Slone and Chase Witte each went over 100 against Anderson in 2016.

Milford now 4-1 overall and 3-0 in league play, will face a tough one next week, travelling to take on Winton Woods in Week 6.
