Eagles Named ECC Boys Golf Champs; Horn Tabbed Player of the Year

Posted on: October 17, 2018

For the fourth time in the past five years, Milford has been crowned as the Eastern Cincinnati Conference Boys Champions. In addition, senior Justin Horn has been tabbed the top player in the league for the 2018 season.

The overall league champion is determined by a formula which takes into account each teams finish in the preseason tournament, postseason championship tournament and record in head-to-head dual matches against league foes. Milford’s 20 points were good enough for first place, 2.5 better than second place Turpin.

Horn was named the Athlete of the Year in the league for the first time on the strength of his second ECC Tournament victory. In the process, Horn shattered the ECC Tournament record, carding a blistering round of 66. He finished the regular season as the second-ranked player in the league with a nine-hole scoring average of 37.6.

Horn was joined on the All-ECC first team by younger brother Adam, who enjoyed an outstanding freshman year as an Eagle. Adam represented Milford at the OHSAA District Tournament after qualifying in a playoff at sectionals. His 38.1 average was third in the ECC, just behind his older brother.

Junior Max Steinmetz was Milford’s honorable mention selection after finishing with an average of 43.3 and a 20th place finish at the ECC Tournament.
