Eagles Retain Victory Bell With Big Win Over Loveland; Move To 3-0

Posted on: September 2, 2022

The Milford Eagles are 3-0 for the first time since 2008 using a dominant first half to retain the Miami Township Victory Bell with a 47-21 victory over Loveland. The game was played in front of a large crowd as part of the 25th anniversary of the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown. The Eagle triumph extended their win streak over the Tigers to seven straight, dating back to the 2017 season.

Senior RB Natwan Webster picked up Mercy Health Player of the Game honors, scoring four of Milford’s touchdowns and finishing with 83 total yards from scrimmage. Senior signal-caller Austin Hardin threw four touchdown passes for the third straight week, finishing the night 19 of 27 passing for 290 yards. The Milford defense was bend but not break, coming up with four turnovers on the night.

The first Loveland miscue was a fumble on the opening kickoff which Milford quickly turned into a two-yard Webster TD. The Tigers fumbled again on their first official possession with Hardin making them pay two plays later when he connected with Ashton Warther for a 33-yard TD.

A questionable decision by Loveland to go for it on fourth down inside its own 15-yard line on the next possession proved to be the wrong one as the Eagle defense held, setting up a Hardin to Webster 13-yard toss on the very next play for a quick 21-0 Milford lead.

The Eagles continued to pour it on in the second quarter, going into the break ahead 34-0 after a third Webster TD of the half and a Cam Livingston 10-yard TD reception. The Tigers won the third quarter with two short Colton Endicott TDs but it proved to be too little too late. In the fourth, Webster hit paydirt for the fourth time from five yards and Hardin found Reece Davis on a 48-yard bomb to round out Milford’s scoring. Loveland scored on the game’s final play for the final 47-21 score.

Warther had a big game finishing with 52 rushing and 41 receiving yards to complement Webster’s 39 and 44, respectively. Livingston finished with a game-high 81 receiving yards on three catches. Andrew Littrell had a big night on defense, finishing with nine tackles, including 2.5 for loss and a forced fumble. Other defensive heroes included Jacob Smith (eight tackles, forced and recovered fumble), Toto Luani (eight tackles) and William Riesenberg (seven tackles, one sack).

For the first time this season, Milford will take its show on the road next week, making the short journey to Anderson.
