Eagles Win Six Events Against Loveland, Walnut Hills

The Milford boys and girls swimming and diving teams had four individual winners and earned the top podium in both the 200 and 400 Yard Freestyle Relays while competing against Loveland and Walnut Hills on December 6.

Jarrod Higgins won the 200 Yard Freestyle and 500 Yard Freestyle with times of 1:46.96 and 5:29.29, respectively. Sam Leatherwood was another Milford boys individual champion after finishing first in the 100 Yard Freestyle in 51.77.

The girls also finished with two individual champions in Abby Leatherwood (50 Yard Freestyle, 27.03) and Lauren Clark (100 Yard Backstroke, 1:10.11).

The boys relay team, made up of Sam Leatherwood, Jarrod Higgins, Jan Rae Chavez, Branham Leavens, finished the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay in 1:37.93 and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay in 3:37.32.

The Lady Eagles relay team including Lauren Bell, Abby Leatherwood, Lauren Clark, Megan Krieger claimed the title in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:49.77) and 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (4:07.12). Milford’s Megan Hardewig, Stephanie Karan, Olivia Pattison and Kayleigh Shay earning second in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay in 4:17.69.

Other top individual finishers for the boys included Trey Pond (second in 500 Yard Freestyle, 6:01.11), Evan Higgins (second in 200 Yard IM, 2:31.00), Jan Rae Chavez (second in 100 Yard Butterfly, 1:02.15), and David Niehaus (third in 100 Yard Breaststroke, 1:17.10).

On the girls side, Megan Hardewig (100 Yard Butterfly, 1:16.24), Sami Connor (500 Yard Freestyle, 6:18.22), Hannah Davis (100 Yard Backstroke, 1:10.11), and Lauren Bell (200 Yard Freestyle, 2:12.91) took second in their respective events. Katy Pena and Megan Krieger placed third in the 100 Yard Freestyle (1:02.66), and 100 Yard Backstroke (1:18.62).
