ECC’s Walnut Hills Up Next For Boys Bowling

SETTING THE SCENE:  Following a sweep of Turpin, Milford has moved up to second in the ECC behind West Clermont.  The Eagles have a short break before returning to conference action with Walnut Hills.

 

A LOOK BACK:  Josh Cooper led the Eagles to their conference victory over Turpin on Tues., Jan. 9th.  Cooper rolled a 258 in game one with a 474 series, followed by Nathan Hawkins (417) and Rodney Gorley (392).  Nick Murphy set a new high series season best with a 382, and Nathan McGeorge added a 211 in game two in the 2830-2565 Milford win. 

The Eagles swept the Spartans when they defeated Turpin 2794-2527 on Wed., Jan. 10th. Gorley was the top Eagle in this win with a 437 high series.  Cooper (430) was close behind as was Hawkins (419), who also recorded the high game of the match for the Eagles, a 236 in game two.  All five Milford bowlers competed in two games, including McGeorge (388) and Murphy (376).  The sweep of Turpin moved the Eagles into second place in the ECC.

The Eagles participated in the LaSalle Lancer Baker Bash on Sat., Jan. 13; check back for results.

  

A LOOK AHEAD: Milford’s bowling teams will have a week-long break as they head into the final month of the regular season.  The squads will be back in action on January 22nd, as they face the ECC’s Walnut Hills.

  • Monday, 1/22:             Walnut Hills High School @ Milford, Cherry Grove Lanes, 3:30 pm
  • Thursday, 1/25:           Milford @ Walnut Hills High School, Madison Bowl, 3:30 pm

 

INSIDE THE ECC:  With wins over Kings, including one by just nine pins, West Clermont remains the conference leader at 8-0.  Milford is now second after improving to 6-2 while Kings, now 3-3, fell to third and is tied with Loveland.  Anderson is now 2-4 followed by Walnut Hills at 0-4, and Turpin at 0-6. However, Milford continues to lead the league in team average, however, currently 961.6 over West Clermont’s 951.2 team average. 

Four Milford bowlers remain in the top ten of all ECC individual categories:

Josh Cooper:  overall average (1st – 209.9); high game (1st - 300); series high (t-5th – 479)

Rodney Gorley:  overall average (5th – 200.1); high game (t-8th – 256); series high (2nd – 500)

Nathan Hawkins:  overall average (7th – 197.1); high game (5th – 263); series high (3rd – 498)

Nathan McGeorge:  overall average (3rd – 207.1); high game (t-6th - 257); series high (7th – 478)

POLL WATCH:  UPDATED!  After a week off and despite their eighth place ranking last week, Milford fell out of the top ten of the Enquirer’s area coaches’ poll for week ten. The top four in week ten remain Elder, Oak Hills, Northwest and Mason, while LaSalle moved back up to fifth. West Clermont, who was not in the top ten last week, moved up to seventh.  Milford received eleven votes and Kings received four. Click HERE for the most recent area coaches’ poll.
