ECC’s West Clermont Next for Boys Bowling

A LOOK AHEAD:  Milford’s boys bowling team will take on conference foe West Clermont in the week ahead.  The Eagles suffered two of their three conference losses last season to the Wolves, who again look strong and currently lead the ECC standings with a 4-0 record.

Monday, Dec. 10:               West Clermont High School @ Milford, Cherry Grove Lanes, 3:45 pm

Tuesday, Dec. 11:              Milford at West Clermont High School, Cherry Grove Lanes, 3:45 pm    

 

A LOOK BACK:

December 4 at Lakota West: Milford 2658, Lakota West 2160

A.J. Kaylor led the Eagles in the non-conference victory of Lakota West.  Kaylor rolled a 464 series and a new season high game of 241.  Nathan Hawkins added a 430 series, joined by Franklin Abt (392) and Michael Kow (337) each contributing two games in the win.  Kyle Fanning (128) and Nate Fiest (127) added a game each as well.

December 8 at Holiday Classic:

Milford’s boys bowling team ended an impressive run at the Holiday Classic, finishing the day in 4th place after a loss to White House.  On the way, the Eagles scored in the top 16, and then defeated higher seeds Mason and Beavercreek before falling to the eventual runner-up team from Centerville.  Milford was the lone Cincinnati area school to last deep in the bracket among a field of 40 teams from as far away as Tennessee.  St. Mary’s (Ohio) claimed the 2018 Holiday Classic Championship.

A LOOK INSIDE THE NUMBERS: West Clermont (4-0) stands alone atop the ECC standings, followed by Kings (3-1), Loveland (2-1) and Milford (1-1). Anderson and Walnut Hills, both 1-3, and Turpin 0-2 round out the conference standings.

Milford moved up to fourth in team average (857.0).  West Clermont’s lead in the conference increased, now 1,007.3, followed by Walnut Hills (881.8) and Kings (870.8).

A look at Milford’s individual statistical leaders as of Dec. 10:

Average: Hawkins (6th – 199.8)

High Game: Kaylor (5th – 241); Hawkins (7th – 238); Abt (t-10th – 233)

Series High: Kaylor (t-2nd – 464); Hawkins (4th – 463)

 

ICYMI:  Nathan Hawkins was nominated for the Cincinnati Enquirer Male Bowling Athlete of the Week for Nov. 26.  The senior led Milford to their first victory of the season, a 2505-2486 victory over McNicholas High School.  Hawkins rolled an outstanding two-game series of 451.

 

POLL WATCH:  Milford cracked the top ten of the area coaches’ poll for week four, entering at tenth in a week where chaos ensued in the top ten program. Northwest held onto the top ranking, and Elder moved into second from third.  Fairfield, not in the top five last week, rose to third followed by LaSalle, while Colerain rose to fifth. The ECC’s West Clermont fell from fourth to ninth followed by Milford.  Kings (6), Anderson (1) and Turpin (6) each received votes in the latest poll, which can be found at http://preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
