ECC Championship Week For Milford Wrestlers

Posted on: February 11, 2018

SETTING THE SCENE:  Milford had a break as the team prepared for the Eastern Cincinnati Conference Championships.  Prior to the upcoming ECC meet Milford will travel to Little Miami for their final regular season date.   Though the previous week started with a loss to St. Xavier, the weekend ended on a high note as Milford collected two wins over ECC rivals Anderson and Kings, and alumnus Mike Reckman was inducted into the Milford Hall of Fame.

A LOOK BACK:  Junior Luke Schneider (#126) collected his first varsity win when Milford took on St. Xavier on Fri., Feb. 2.  The Eagles fell to the Bombers 12-52, but Kobey Bronaugh (#132) and Ray Clayton (#120) joined Schneider with wins for the Eagles.

Milford then headed to Anderson on Sat., Feb. 3 to meet up with ECC rivals Anderson and Kings, a preview of the upcoming ECC Championships.  The Eagles rebounded from the loss to St. Xavier and left with two team wins, a 42-24 defeat of Kings, and a close 37-36 victory over Anderson.

Milford’s weekend was capped by the narrow victory over Anderson. The Eagles started down 24 points due to forfeits, and found themselves behind by 36 points after the first two matches.  However, Milford then collected seven consecutive victories capped by a fall from freshman Connor Hawkins (#170) to defeat Anderson by just one point.

Double Winners for the Eagles on Saturday included Justin Bell (#170), Bronaugh, Tristin Messerschmidt (#138), Mason Roy (#145), Schneider, and Jack Ward (#152).
