ECC Honors Announced For Girls Bowling; Haines Player of the Year, Ritzmann Coach of the Year

Posted on: March 8, 2018

Jessica Haines was voted the Player of the Year, and Head Coach Frank Ritzmann was honored as Coach of the Year for 2018 by the Eastern Cincinnati Conference.  Haines was joined by six members of the Milford girls bowling team to receive All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference recognition including MacKenzie Mason and Jessica Norman with first team honors.  Megan Cannon and Reaghan Kaylor were selected second team All-ECC, and Reagan Hodges was recognized for honorable mention.

Frank Ritzmann has been the Head Coach of the Milford bowling teams since the inception of the program in 2004.  Ritzmann was at the helm as the Lady Eagles made history this season, finishing with a perfect 19-0 record and as sole conference champions of the Eastern Cincinnati Conference.  They also ended 2018 ranked sixth in the Cincinnati Enquirer area coaches’ poll. For the second consecutive year, Ritzmann’s Lady Eagles were Sectional tournament runners-up at the OHSAA Division I Bowling Sectional Tournament.

As 2018 Player of the Year, Haines led the Lady Eagles at the 2018 Sectional Tournament by finishing fifth overall in individual scores with a three game series of 507.  Unquestionably the leader of the ECC, Haines led the league in overall average (189.1) and was ranked second for both high game (248) and high series high (448). She leaves Milford holding the record for the girls two-game series at 490, a record she set in the 2017 season.  The senior also received first team all-conference recognition in 2017 and 2016.

Senior Mason was named first team All-ECC, as well.  Mason set a new school record for single high game in a match this year, 289, breaking the previous record of 269 set by Haines last season.  Her two game series total that same day was 488, just 3 pins shy of a new series record. Mason led the league in both high game (289) and series high (488), and was ranked seventh for overall average (172.1).  She received second team honors in both 2017 and 2016.

Norman received first team All-ECC member for the second consecutive year; she received honorable mention recognition her freshman season.  The junior ended the season fourth for both high game (241) and high series (431), and was ninth for overall average (160.7).

Cannon, in her third and final season of varsity bowling, received second team All-ECC honors. She ended the season tied for tenth for series high (391), and sat just outside the top ten for overall average (156.5, eleventh) and high game (212, tied for twelfth).  Cannon previously received honorable mention recognition in 2017.

Kaylor was named second team All-ECC in her first year on the MHS bowling team.  Just a freshman, Kaylor ranked seventh for high game (233) and eighth for series high (406).  In addition, her 146.7 overall average ranked eighteenth in the ECC.

Reagan Hodges received honorable mention recognition in her first year on the varsity squad.  The junior’s high game of 215 ranked eleventh in the league, and she was eighteenth in overall average (146.7).
