Eleven More Milford High School Student-Athletes Announce College Plans

The Milford High School Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that 11 more members of its Class of 2019 will continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level. The student-athletes that have committed to continuing their academic and athletic futures include: Kobey Bronaugh (Wrestling-Midway College), Kaylee Coultas (Cheerleading-University of Louisville), Harrison Eckels (Soccer-Otterbein University), Chase Fisher (Swimming-Denison University), Nate Flannery (Football-Muskingum University), Ali Kirk (Soccer-Eastern Kentucky University), Sam Leatherwood (Swimming-University of Evansville), David Niehaus (Swimming-Denison University), Casey Roeder (Lacrosse-Marietta College), Dylan Vearil (Swimming-University of Indianapolis) and Adam Yoh (Baseball-Bluffton University).

 

Bronaugh received first team All-ECC honors for the third time as a senior, this year at 138 pounds. The senior will leave Milford tied for second in career wins and held a 135-28 overall record. His outstanding high school career came to a close following his third bout at the OHSAA District Championships; the senior qualified after earning a second-place finish at the Sectionals.  He won his third consecutive ECC Championship and was just the third wrestler in Milford history to claim three conference titles.

 

At Midway, an NAIA school located in Midway, Ky., Bronaugh will compete for head coach Jake Brumbelow. Kobey is the son of Randy and Elizabeth Bronaugh.

 

Kaylee has been a Milford Cheerleader since 7th grade having cheered for a total of seven seasons of football and basketball. She is a four-year varsity cheerleader and a four-year member of the Competitive Cheer program.  As a member of the Milford Competitive team she has led the Eagles to four straight ECC Championships, Milford’s longest running championship streak. Kaylee has been part of three Milford Competitive Cheer teams that qualified for three UCA National Championships bringing home two National Championship performances. Kaylee won the 2019 Cheer Eagle Award for her dedication, leadership and discipline.

 

At Louisville, Kaylee has tried out for and made the Cardinals nationally-ranked all-girl squad for both football and basketball. Kaylee is the daughter of Randy and Cindy Coultas.

 

Eckels earned honorable mention All-ECC honors last fall and was another big-time defender for the Eagles who also got it done on offense. He wrapped up his senior season with four goals, three assists and 11 points coming out of the back.

 

At Otterbein, Eckels will play for head coach Jason Griffiths. Harrison is the son of James and Jennifer Eckels.

 

Fisher was a highly accomplished swimmer during his Milford career, capping his senior year by being named the ECC Swimmer of the Year. His also competed at the OHSAA State Championships again over the winter as a member of the 200 medley relay squad. Fisher had a huge performance at the ECC Championships, setting new league championship records on his way to victories in the 50 and 100 freestyle. He also picked up wins and league marks in the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays.

 

At Denison, Fisher will compete for head coach Gregg Parini. Chase is the son of Brian and Renee Fisher.

 

Flannery earned All-ECC first team honors as Milford’s starting left tackle on the offensive line. His play helped the Eagles lead the league in points per game, while ranking second in total offense and passing yards per game.

 

At Muskingum, Flannery will play for head coach Erik Ieuter. Nate is the son of Daniel and Jen Flannery.

 

In earning first team All-ECC honors for the first time, Kirk led the Eagles in goals (7), assists (5) and points (19). Her totals ranked her among the top-six in each category in the ECC last fall.

 

At Eastern Kentucky, Kirk will play for head coach Matt Cosinuke. Ali is the daughter of George Huesman and Kathy Kirk. She is also the younger sister of Milford grads Ryan and Matt Kirk who play baseball at Capital University and Cypress College, respectively

 

Leatherwood was yet another talented member of the boys swim team and a state qualifier in the 200 medley relay. Like Fisher, Leatherwood earned a share of the ECC Championship and league record in the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays. He also earned top-three finishes in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle at the ECC meet.

 

At Evansville, Leatherwood will compete for head coach Stuart Wilson. Sam is the son of Jeff and Amy Leatherwood. He is also the younger brother of Milford grad Abby Leatherwood who currently swims at Ohio Northern University.

 

Niehaus made his mark at the ECC Championships with four top-five finishes. Individually, he finished second in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 200 IM. On the relay side, Niehaus was part of squads that finished fourth in the 200 medley and fifth in the 400 freestyle relays.

 

At Denison, Niehaus will continue as a teammate to Fisher and will compete for head coach Gregg Parini. David is the son of Scott and Lisa Niehaus.

 

Roeder has been a varsity member of the Eagles’ lacrosse program for all three years of its existence. Her highlight was being named honorable mention by the Ohio Schoolgirls Lacrosse Coaches Association as a junior.

 

At Marietta, Roeder will play for head coach Malory Brunett. Casey is the daughter of John and Kim Roeder.

 

Vearil is the fifth senior from the boys swimming team set to compete on the college level next season. The highlight of the ECC Championships for Vearil was a fourth place finish in the 200 medley relay.

 

At Indianapolis, Vearil will compete for head coach Jason Hite. Dylan is the son of Lori Vearil.

 

Yoh has been very solid behind the plate this spring for the Eagles, starting nearly every game at catcher. A defense first player, Yoh has committed just two errors to date and has seven RBI as a hitter, along with one double.

 

At Bluffton, Yoh will play for head coach James Grandey. Adam is the son of Greg and Lori Yoh.

 

These 11 commitments bring the total to 24 members of the MHS Class of 2019 to announce college commitments for next year. Any further signee information for the Class of 2019 will be shared as it is finalized.
