Fentress Qualifies For State Finals In Two Events

Posted on: February 24, 2023

Erin Fentress will end her career on Saturday on Ohio’s grandest stage as the senior standout has qualified for the OHSAA State Championship finals in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events.

In Friday’s preliminaries, Erin clocked the fifth-fastest time of the round with a 23.87 in the 50 free. She followed that up by going sixth quick in the 100 free with a mark of 51.56. A four-year state qualifier, Erin has already guaranteed herself a career-best finish as her previous best of ninth in the 50 free last year put her at the top of the B-final. She’ll compete in the A-final in both events on Saturday with action getting underway at 3pm.

Milford’s other state qualifiers, the 200 freestyle relay squad consisting of Landon Crum, Paul Menker, Cameron Barclay and Emmett Fentress will earn a 22nd place finish after missing the cut during Friday’s preliminaries. Their time of 1:28.46 was a season-best.
