The Milford High School Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that 15 additional members of its Class of 2023 will continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level. The student-athletes that have committed to continuing their academic and athletic futures are Callie Allison (Softball-Worcester Polytechnic Institute), Zara Brown (Women’s Lacrosse-Transylvania University), Peyton Cook (Women’s Soccer-University of Tennessee-Martin), Hannah Daniels (Women’s Volleyball-UC Clermont College), Erin Fentress (Swimming-The Ohio State University), Max Groetsch (Baseball-Owens Community College), Annika Hansen (Women’s Tennis-Capital University), Skylar Helms (Women’s Soccer-Kenyon College), Jace Hesketh (Baseball-Chattanooga State Community College), Cam Livingston (Football-West Virginia State University), Lauren Pickett (Women’s Volleyball-Lincoln Memorial University), Campbell Robinson (Women’s Volleyball-University at Albany), Joelle Stinson (Women’s Soccer-University of Tennessee-Martin), Katie Tatum (Women’s Basketball-Anderson University) and Joe Wiegand (Baseball-Marietta College).

Allison made a big splash in her first season as an Eagle last spring, earning first team All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference honors. She finished the campaign with a.577 batting average, the second-highest among qualifying players in the league and recorded 15 doubles, collected 25 RBI and stole six bases. Allison was also a first team Cincinnati Enquirer All-Star.

At WPI, an NCAA Division III program in Worcester, MA, Allison will play for head coach Heather Ross. Callie is the daughter of John and Laura Allison.

Brown collected an assortment of honors during her junior season, including honorable mention all-region. She was also first team All-ECC and one of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s second team All-Stars. Brown had a great campaign, leading the ECC in both assists (39) and ground balls (47). In securing her first-ever all-conference accolade, Brown also finished third on the Eagles with 20 goals scored.

At Transylvania, an NCAA Division III program in Lexington, KY, Brown will play for head coach Rachel Bragg. Zara is the daughter of Stuart and Ashley Brown.

Cook had a dynamic senior campaign for the highly successful Eagles’ girls soccer program. Capped by a second team All-Ohio selection, she was also first team All-ECC and part of the All-Southwest District team. Cook was also chosen to play in the SW District All-Star game. She capped her senior season leading the ECC in assists (18), was third in points (36) and tied for ninth in goals (9).

At Tennessee-Martin, an NCAA Division I program in Martin, TN, Cook will play for head coach Phil McNamara. Peyton is the daughter of Justin and Julie Cook.

Daniels was part of a talented group of defensive specialists that helped Milford to a 21-4 record last fall. For the season, she collected 149 digs, while serving up 55 aces. Daniels also received a SW District Senior Academic Award.

At UC Clermont, a USCAA Division II program in Batavia, Daniels will play for head coach Josh Hamer. Recent Milford grads Logan Downs and Kennedy Robinson have played for the Cougars for the past two seasons. Hannah is the daughter of Paul and Dora Daniels.

Fentress has enjoyed a stellar prep career, having just last weekend won two more ECC Championships. In addition to holding several school records, she’s qualified for the OSHAA State Championships each year of her career, twice in more than one event. Fentress was the ECC Swimmer of the Championship Meet as a sophomore and has won a total of six ECC titles.

At Ohio State, an NCAA Division I program in Columbus, Fentress will compete for head coach Bill Dorenkott and join her older brother Evan, currently a freshman, as a member of the Buckeyes’ squad. Erin is the daughter of Scott and Julie Fentress.

Groetsch made three appearances out of the Milford bullpen last spring, helping the Eagles to a 17-9 record. In 3.1 innings of work, he struck out three batters without issuing a walk.

At Owens, a junior college located in Toledo, Groetsch will play for head coach John Parisho. Max is the son of Kurt and Alison Groetsch.

Hansen was part of the recent resurgence of the Milford tennis program during her career. She wrapped up her time at Milford with a third All-ECC award after earning honorable mention as a sophomore and second team as a junior. Last fall, she went 8-5 in singles play, while teaming with Brown for one doubles victory.

At Capital, an NCAA Division III program in Columbus, Hansen will play for head coach Lynn Winters. Annika is the daughter of Kurt and Brittany Hansen.

Helms was a fierce defender on the Eagles’ ECC winning team last fall. As a senior, she was a first team all-conference choice and named to the SW Ohio All-District squad. In addition to her defensive prowess, she scored one goal and added an assist offensively.

At Kenyon, an NCAA Division III program in Gambier, Helms will play for head coach Kelly Bryan. Skylar is the daughter of Kelli and Keith Helms.

Hesketh will join the Eagles for his senior campaign after transferring to Milford.

At Chattanooga State, a junior college in Chattanooga, TN, Hesketh will play for head coach Greg Dennis. Jace is the son of Andrew and Amanda Hesketh and Lindsey Bowling.

Livingston was one of the Eagles go to wide receivers all season, leading the team in yards per reception at 20.9. Overall, he hauled in 31 passes for 648 yards and eight touchdowns.

At West Virginia State, an NCAA Division II program in Nitro, WV, Livingston will play for head coach John Pennington. He’ll join a roster that features former teammate and Class of 2022 Milford grad Logan Bartholomew. Cam is the son of Steve and Qiana Hyre.

Pickett was the floor general for the 21-win Eagles from her setter position last fall. On top of a Cincinnati Enquirer second team award, she was also third team all-district and selected for the SW District All-Star Game. On her way to first team All-ECC honors, she ranked second in the league with 866 assists.

At Lincoln Memorial, an NCAA Division II program in Harrogate, TN, Pickett will play for head coach Christine Phillips. Lauren is the daughter of Thomas and Kimberly Pickett.

Robinson was one of the top players in the country last fall as she earned third team All-American and AVCA All-Region awards. She was also tabbed first team All-ECC, first team Cincinnati Enquirer All-Star, first team All-District and to the AVCA Best & Brightest second team. She was fourth in the ECC with 344 kills and first with 66 blocks. Robinson also competed in the SW District All-Star Game.

At Albany, an NCAA Division I program in Albany, NY, Robinson will play for head coach Josh Pickard. Campbell is the daughter of Brian and Windy Robinson.

Stinson was yet another fierce defender for the conference champion Eagles, while playing her first season as a Milford varsity player. She was part of a defense that allowed just 16 goals in 21 matches and posted 10 shutouts. Stinson contributed one goal and one assist on offense as well.

At Tennessee-Martin, an NCAA Division I program in Martin, TN, Cook will play for head coach Phil McNamara. Joelle is the daughter of Joe and Tina Stinson. Joelle will be joined in the NCAA Division I soccer ranks next season by sister Carly who signed with Cleveland State in November.

Tatum has been a four-year regular in the Eagle line-up as a point guard and outside sharp shooter. This winter, she’s averaging nearly eight points and three assists per game. Tatum tied a school record earlier this year when she made seven three-pointers in a victory over Anderson. She’ll conclude her career as one of the top-five three-point shooters in Milford history.

At Anderson, an NCAA Division III program in Anderson, IN, Tatum will play for head coach Jon Gin. Katie is the daughter of Kenneth and Melissa Tatum.

As a first-year varsity Eagle last spring, Wiegand appeared in 25 games as a catcher. He posted a .222 batting average, drew 11 walks and stole 11 bases.

At Marietta, an NCAA Division III program in Marietta, Wiegand will play for head coach Brian Brewer. Joe is the son of Walter and Caren Wiegand.

This group joins six other Class of 2023 members who announced college commitments earlier this school year. Further signee information will be shared throughout the 2022-23 academic year as it is finalized.
