Final Invitational For Girls Cross Country This Weekend
SETTING THE SCENE: With no competition scheduled for last weekend, the Lady Eagles will be rested and ready for the upcoming Ross Invitational, the final regular season event prior to the ECC championships and the postseason.
THE UPCOMING DOCKET: The Lady Eagles are back in action at the Ross Invitational on Sat., Oct. 6. In 2017, Milford finished in seventh place of fourteen teams and the Eagles were led by Emma Beck who crossed the finish in eighteenth place.
The Ross Invitational will be held at Ross High School, located at 3601 Hamilton-Cleves Rd in Hamilton. The varsity runners are scheduled for a 9:00 start time, while the open race for girls should begin at approximately 10:00 am. Ross will be charging $4 per person to enter the stadium area to watch the meet from the stadium area where the finish is located.
A LOOK BACK: On Sat., Sept. 22, Milford’s girls cross country team finished in the front of the pack at Centerville’s Saturday Night Lights Varsity A race, sprinting to a 6th place team finish among 47 teams. Milford’s Emmy Sager finished in 3rd place with a new career time of 19:21, just 21 seconds behind the lead finisher.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: There were few changes in the top third of the ECC standings, as many teams including Milford were idle over the weekend. Individual standings as of Sept. 30: Emmy Sager (11th), Olivia Loeffler (28th), Emma Beck (31st), Emily Rodeffer (37th), Brooke Stansell (t-54th), Gretchen Feldkamp (61st), Sam Conrad (t-62nd), Claire Perrin (t-62nd), Kat Perez (65th), and Hailey Steiner (67th).
POLL WATCH: Yet again, week six finds no changes in the top five of the area coaches’ poll, with Lakota East, Mason, and ECC schools Turpin, Kings, and Loveland as the top five teams. Walnut Hills, who last week re-entered the poll at ninth, rose a spot to eighth. Anderson (9) and West Clermont (3) received votes for week six.
