Final Week for Boys Volleyball Includes Colerain, Fairfield

SETTING THE SCENE:  The Eagles will take a nine game win streak into the final week of the regular season.  Milford’s boys volleyball team will visit Colerain as well as Fairfield to take on the Indians for the first time this year.  With two victories over Princeton and Lakota West last week, the Eagles improved to 14-3 overall.

 

A LOOK BACK:  Milford traveled to Princeton for the second meeting of the two teams in 2018 on May 7, and returned with a 3-0 victory.  The Eagles opened the match with wins of 25-16 and 25-11 in the first two games.  The Vikings fought to force a fourth but the Eagles prevailed 31-29 in game three.

On Wed., May 9 Lakota West hosted Milford, their first meeting of the season. The Eagles swept the Firebirds in three; 25-19, 25-19 and 25-17, as Milford improved to 14-3 overall on the season.

 

A LOOK AHEAD:  The regular season winds down this week with the final matches at Colerain and Fairfield.  Milford defeated Colerain earlier in the season, but will see Fairfield for the first time this year.   

  • Tuesday, 5/15:             Milford @ Colerain High School, 6:00 pm
  • Wednesday, 5/16:        Milford @ Fairfield High School, 6:30 pm

 

A LOOK AHEAD AT THE POSTSEASON:  The OHSBVA tournament will begin the week of May 21. 

 

INSIDE THE ECC:  With just one loss to Milford, Loveland (5-1) will win the unofficial ECC title for 2018.  Milford (4-2) ends the season in second, followed by Walnut Hills (3-3) and West Clermont (0-6). Find the final unofficial ECC standings HERE.

 

POLL WATCH:  Milford entered the top ten in the final Cincinnati Enquirer area coaches’ poll released May 14.  St. Xavier replaced Moeller at the top of the poll, while Moeller fell to second Elder remained in third.  Lakota East rose to fourth and Alter fell to fifth. Fenwick will end the year in sixth followed by the ECC’s Loveland and Milford in seventh and eighth respectively.  Carroll is ninth, with Hamilton, LaSalle and Oak Hills all tied for tenth. In the OHSBVA’s South Region poll for week ending May 13, Milford held at fifth.   The top five remained the same from the previous week; Moeller, St. Xavier, Elder, Loveland and Milford, followed by Oak Hills, LaSalle, Fairfield, Mason and McNicholas.  Milford received votes in the State poll, and sits in fourteenth.  Find the latest OHSBVA rankings HERE
