Five Eagles Earn ECC Cross Country Honors

Posted on: November 3, 2021

Following their recently completed seasons, the Milford cross country teams had five representatives on the All-ECC squads. Leading the pack was boys freshman and regional qualifier Charlie Vause on the first team. The regional qualifying girls squad was paced by second team honorees Ayla Grabenbauer and Ali Maglecic. Honorable mention went to Luke Eminger and Claire McFarland.

Vause had a huge freshman season, reaching the regionals in his first season and missing a berth at State by just five seconds. He finished fifth at the ECC Championships and 10th at districts, while holding the 10th-fastest time in the league with a mark of 16:33.6.

Grabenbauer, a senior, had top-15 finishes at both the ECCs and districts, leading the Eagles with a 10th place tally at the latter. Her mark of 19:24.4 at Districts was a season-best and 15th fastest in the league all year.

Just a freshman, Maglecic improved all season and capped it with a 14th place finish in the District meet. She was 16th among all ECC runners with a season-best 19:42.9 time.

Eminger finished his sophomore year with a top time of 17:40.6. He was just outside the top-30 in a strong field at the ECC Championships.

McFarland peaked at the end of the season, posting her best time, 19:49.2, at the District Championship meet on her way to a 16th place finish.
