Five Eagles Garner All-ECC Tennis Honors

Posted on: October 19, 2022

After another successful season that featured a third-place finish in the ECC standings, the Milford girls tennis team was well represented on the all-league teams with five players being honored. Headlining the list is top singles player Jasmin Mu who was one of the just three first team selections from across the league. No. 2 player Kira Pietila earned second team honors, as did the doubles team of Zara Brown and Ariana Carranza. Annika Hansen was chosen honorable mention.

After earning second team All-ECC honors last fall, Mu bumped up to the top team in 2022. The highlight of her season was becoming the first Eagle since 2016 to qualify for the OHSAA District Tournament. She finished second at No. 1 singles at the ECC Tournament and concluded the regular season with a 9-5 record against some of the best players in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Pietila is now a three-time All-ECC selection after being named honorable mention during her freshman and junior seasons. At No. 2 singles as a senior, Pietila finished third at the ECC tourney and was 10-4 as a singles player.

Brown and Carranza combined to post an 8-4 record at No. 1 doubles, while finishing third in the ECC. Brown was also second team All-ECC last as a double player, while Carranza is a first time honoree.

Hansen concludes her career with a third All-ECC award after earning honorable mention as a sophomore and second team as a junior. This year, she went 8-5 in singles play, while teaming with Brown for one doubles victory.
