Five Eagles On Podium, Fourth Place Finish At ECC Wrestling Tournament
SETTING THE SCENE: Following a fourth place finish and four Eagles who placed in the top three at last weekend’s Eastern Cincinnati Conference meet, Milford wrestlers now look ahead to the postseason. Before the sectional tournament, however, Milford is scheduled for a tri-match with Kettering Fairmont and Vandalia Butler.
A LOOK BACK: Loveland, #9 in the area coaches’ poll, won Saturday’s 2017 ECC championship tournament, ending Glen Este’s two year streak. Loveland scored 255 points to lead the league by over 75 points. Similar to the last few years, Milford placed fourth, while Anderson and Glen Este earned second and third place respectively.
Five Eagles took the podium this year. Jimmy Murphy won his second consecutive ECC championship at 132, while Kobey Bronaugh (113) brought home his first conference title. Max Ward was the runner-up at 120, and Tre Spillman at 160 finished in third place. At 145, Jack Ward finished in fourth.

Prior to the ECC meet, the Eagles were scheduled for a Friday tri-match with the host Lakota East and Bishop Fenwick. Results, pictures and more information will be shared when available; check back for updates.
A LOOK AHEAD: Milford’s schedule this week consists of a tri-match at Kettering Fairmont, where they will be joined by Vandalia Butler. The match wraps up the regular season for the Eagles who will then look forward to the OHSAA Sectional Tournament the following week.

POLL WATCH: The final Cincinnati Enquirer’s area coaches’ poll was released and the year will end with Elder ranked first. There were no changes from the previous week, so Mason, LaSalle, Fairfield and Harrison will finish in the top five. Moeller, Oak Hills, Lakota East, the ECC’s Loveland, and Lakota West round out the top ten. Anderson (3) is the only conference school to receive votes in the final poll.
