SETTING THE SCENE: Looking to wrap up an unprecedented second consecutive playoff berth, the Milford High School football team will wrap up the 2018 regular season Friday night when the Eagles host Turpin. The contest, featuring the 7-2 Eagles and 6-3 Spartans, brings to the field two of the most high-powered offenses in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference. Milford is virtually assured of a playoff berth with a win, while Turpin is trying to play its way into the playoffs with a victory. The Eagles are also still alive in the ECC Championship battle, but will need a win and a Kings loss to deliver the title.

THANK YOU SENIORS: This Friday night will be Senior Night at Eagle Stadium with Milford’s 23-member senior class being honored. Senior Night festivities will begin at 6 p.m., with kickoff set for 7 p.m. Milford’s 2018 football seniors include: Jake Ayler, Sebastian Buckman, Barron Dinkins, Jared Engelman, Tony Facciolo, Nate Flannery, Connor Foster, Tyrell Franklin, Jacob Gifford, Daniel Glad, Dylan Hughes, Hayden Johnson, Cameron Kells, Dustin Laudermilk, Owen Martin, Chase Morgan, CT Phillips, Jackson Reuser, Brian Stevens, Ben Tonucci, Jacob Turner, Jacob Wehrman and John Willen.

A LOOK BACK: On a night when the weather got worse as the game wore on, Milford rode the able back and legs of senior RB Cameron Kells to a 23-21 win at soggy West Clermont. The Wolves scored the last 14 points of the game to draw within two points, but a key defensive stand and some continued hard running by Kells allowed the Eagles to seal the triumph. Kells finished with 194 yards on the ground, while scoring all three of Milford’s TDs.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles remain eighth in the Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll, released on Oct. 22. As has been the case for weeks, Colerain remains the top rated squad, earning all six first place votes. The rest of the top-five is made up of Fairfield, Elder, Moeller and Mason. West Clermont from the ECC is one of four squads receiving votes.

In the Division II poll, Kings climbs back to second with one first place vote, behind poll leader Winton Woods. Anderson is tied for fourth, while Turpin is tied for seventh. Loveland and Withrow are the two squads also receiving votes this week. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.

PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS?: The next to last regular season installment of the OHSAA Computer Ratings which ultimately determines the playoff match-ups across the state have been released. In DI, the top-eight teams in each of Ohio’s four regions will earn a berth in the playoffs. The current top-eight in Region 4 by ranking are: Colerain, Fairfield, Mason, Elder, Moeller, Milford, Sycamore and Lakota East.

In the Division II, Region 8 rankings, of which much of the ECC resides, Kings is showing as No. 2 and Anderson is sixth, with Turpin in the outside looking in at 12^th.

KELLS NAMED BLITZ 5 PRIMETIME PERFORMER: After his record breaking, seven touchdown performance in Milford’s Week 6 win over Anderson, senior RB Cameron Kells was voted Blitz 5’s Primetime Performer of the Week.

TRISTATE FOOTBALL HONORS EAGLE PAIR: Prior to each season, area website Tristatefootball.com recognizes the best of the best with inclusion on the site’s three all-area websites. The teams are decided based on a combination of fan vote and staff input and the 2018 squads feature a pair of Eagles. On the offensive side of the ball, senior TE Connor Foster was selected to the second team, while senior WR Jake Ayler earned a slot on the third team.
