Football Report: October 16
A game that looked more like a track meet in the first half turned into a second half run away for Milford as the Eagles held on to the Victory Bell with a resounding 54-21 victory over rival Loveland. The triumph was Milford’s fifth in a row over its inter-township rival.
The first half featured the squads trading scores with Milford clinging to a 27-21 lead at the break. But the second half was all Eagles as they scored 27 unanswered points, outgaining the Tigers 233-72 along the way. The defensive effort was led by a monster effort from freshman LB Tofa Luani, who finished with 12 tackles, three sacks and an interception. He also got in on the fun on offense scoring a short rushing touchdown in the first half.
The offensive side of the ball had heroes at every turn. QB Austin Hardin turned in his second five TD pass performance in his last four games, completing 16 of 20 throws for a career-high 351 yards. His favorite target was Vince Ringland who hauled in two TDs among his six catches for 165 yards. Ringland also a pair of rushing touchdowns, as well as a pair of two-point conversions. Hardin also hooked up with Payton Bauer for a pair of scores, while also finding Chase Duesing for a TD.
The Eagles will look to carry the momentum from its best all-around performance of the season next week in the home finale against Lebanon.
