Football Report: October 9

Posted on: October 9, 2020

Colerain took advantage of three Milford turnovers, a short field on two scoring drives and a blocked punt for a touchdown as they knocked the Eagles out of the OHSAA Playoffs with a 38-7 victory. The Eagle defense played well, holding the Cardinals to 254 yards, 50 yards under their season average, but couldn’t overcome the series of miscues.

The night started strong for the Eagles as QB Austin Hardin completed six of his first seven passes to move the Eagles into the red zone. But Davontae Kiner stepped in front of a fourth down throw, running it back 61 yards to set up Colerain’s first score.

Colerain would go on to score the game’s first 31 points, before Milford finally got on the board early in the fourth quarter. Vince Ringland hauled in a short pass from Hardin, dodged several Cardinal defenders and raced 49 yards for his team-best fourth receiving touchdown of the year.

Tahj Price provided a highlight in the fourth quarter when he took a Colerain kickoff and ran it back 72 yards, deep into Cardinal territory. The return was the longest by an Eagle since Chase Witte’s 83-yard return for a touchdown at Walnut Hills on October 23, 2015.
