Football Wraps Up Campaign With Trip To Turpin

Setting the Scene: The 2019 season draws to an end for the Milford Eagles when they travel to Turpin for a Week 10 battle. The Eagles will be out to play the role of spoiler, hoping to cost Turpin an undefeated season. The Spartans have also clinched a home game in the first round of the playoffs and are chasing Harrison for the No. 1 position in the Region 8 standings.

Noting the 2019 Season

After playing primarily on the defensive side of the ball in 2018, junior RB Caleb Johns carried the ball 18 times in the opener against Princeton, finishing with a career-high 100 yards rushing.
The Eagles welcomed nine new starters on the offensive side of the ball and seven on defense in the Princeton contest.
Senior LB Lucas Bowling scored the winning points against Dunbar with an 18-yard interception return. His pick-six was the first by an Eagle since Bryce Dugan against Anderson on Oct. 20, 2017.
Junior Payton Bauer and sophomore Noah Earley each scored their first career touchdowns on passes from Hunter Johnson against Dunbar.
Vince Ringland (112) and Max Ward (101) each finished with over 100 yards receiving against Loveland. They became the first duo since Dylan Hughes (163) and Jake Ayler (101) to top 100 in the same game since last year’s playoff win over Fairfield.
Ward also became the first Milford receiver since Dylan Hughes on Sept. 29, 2017 against Walnut Hills to catch 3 TDs in a game.
Senior LB Cameron Hemmert racked up 18 tackles against Walnut Hills; the most by an Eagle since Adam Bartrum had 21 stops vs. Sycamore on Nov. 3, 2017.
Hunter Johnson and Vince Ringland had monster performances in the second contest against Loveland, finishing with 387 passing yards and 173 yards, respectively. Each total is the highest by an Eagle since at least 2012.
Vince Ringland again showed his versatility against Anderson, finishing with 93 receiving and 12 rushing yards, averaging 40.5 yards on two punts and placing two of his three kickoffs in the end zone for touchbacks. He also recorded three tackles and forced a fumble.
After a sluggish first half, the Eagle defense rose to the occasion in the second half at Withrow, allowing Milford a chance to win. For the half, Milford limited the Tigers to -20 yards of total offense.
Senior PK Grace Ertel connected on her first career field goal, a 21-yard, against West Clermont. The successful try was the first made field goal by an Eagle since Dillon Coleman’s 31-yarder against Withrow in Week 8 of the 2017 season.
