Posted on: February 24, 2020

Congratulations to four members of this year’s boys basketball team on earning All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference honors. Senior Jack Liles was a first team choice, while classmates Joey Round and Grant Whitaker took second team. Fellow senior Cole Chaney was Milford’s honorable mention for this year.

Jack continued his reputation as one of the most dangerous scorers in the league, finishing the year averaging 10.0 points per game. Twice in a three-game span, Jack topped the 20-point scoring mark, while reaching double figures in scoring nine times. During the regular season, he made the fourth-most three-pointers in the league (35). Jack led the team in free throw percentage (79.4) and was second with 24 steals. This mark’s his second All-ECC selection after being tabbed second team last year.

Joey’s first full varsity season was a good one as he finished the year averaging nine points and just over three rebounds per game. In addition to leading the team in free throws made and attempted (41 of 55), Joey also dished out 31 assists. His first career start marked his best scoring output of the year as he finished with a career-high 21 points, one of nine double figure scoring performances he posted.

Grant was another first-year varsity starter who was solid on both ends of the floor all season. By year’s end, Grant was the league leader with a 63.2% shooting percentage, averaging eight points per game. Often playing undersized at 6’2”, Grant ranked fifth in the league with 5.3 rebounds per game and was fifth with 16 blocked shots.

Defense and outstanding passing were the name of the game this winter for Cole. During regular season play, Cole handed out a team-high 55 assists, ranking fourth in the league dimes per game, despite missing three contests. His 34 regular season steals tied for fifth in the league and led the Eagles.
