Fourth Seeded Eagles Set For Girls Ohio Water Polo Championship
SETTING THE SCENE: Having won seven of its last 10 match-ups to finish the regular season with a 17-12-2 record, the Milford High School girls water polo team heads to Ohio Wesleyan University this weekend (Oct. 23-24) for the 31st Ohio High School Girls State Water Polo Championship. Seeded fourth, the Eagles are set to open tournament play at 2:30 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 23) against No. 9 seed Sylvania. Should they win, the Eagles will be idle for the rest of Friday, before returning to the pool at 9 a.m. on Saturday against the winner of No. 5 Worthington and No. 8 AMDG. The loser’s from the first two contests will scare off in an elimination match-up at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The full schedule for the tournament is below.
A LOOK BACK: The Eagles completed a 17-12-2 regular season by posting a 3-1 record at the 24th annual Milford Invitational over the weekend of Oct. 9-11. Milford opened the weekend with a strong 9-8 win over Mason, before edging Worthington Kilbourne 3-2 later on day one of the invitational. The Eagles pushed their win streak to four straight with a 9-7 win over Napoleon, before falling to Worthington by a 8-6 score in their finale.

POLL WATCH: On Oct. 12, the Ohio water polo coaches released their latest with both Milford squads earning solid positions. The girls team is ranked fourth overall, down one from the position it held during the mid-season ratings. The Eagles trail top-ranked Upper Arlington, Sycamore and Mason atop the list. The boys have fallen to the No. 6 spot after being ranked fourth in the mid-season. St. Xavier continues to be No. 1 in the rankings, ahead of Upper Arlington, St. Charles, Toledo St. Francis and Maason. The full rankings can be found here.
