Girls Basketball Hits The Road For Challenging Pair, Beginning Wednesday At Loveland

Posted on: January 16, 2018

SETTING THE SCENE: Road games against two of the Eastern Cincinnati Conference’s top squads await the Milford High School girls basketball team this week as they look for a measure of payback for defeats earlier this season. The Eagles have been playing well as of late, winning four of their last six outings to carry a 5-9 record into this week’s action. This week tips off with Milford’s nearest league rival as they will travel to Loveland on Wednesday night. Then on Saturday, the Eagles will make their first-ever trip to the new West Clermont High School campus for a 2 p.m. tip-off.

Milford shot a season-high 37 percent from the field and forced 28 turnovers on defense as they plowed by Hughes 63-26. The Eagles defense was in top form, recording 15 steals, including 10 by freshman point guard Azyiah Williams. Head coach Kristi McKenney was able to play all 14 players on the roster, with 10 earning at least 13 minutes of action.

Abby Thierauf capped a 9-0 Milford run with 4:36 to play with a pair of free throws to give the hosts their largest lead (42-38), but the Redskins kept the Eagles off the board the rest of the period to score the win.
