Girls Basketball Report: January 11

January 11 at St. Ursula
For the second straight game, Milford played exceptional team defense, this time yielding just three second half points as part of a big 48-21 non-conference win at St. Ursula. Balanced scoring keyed the offense, but it was a defense that saw the Eagles allow just three points in the third quarter and none in the fourth that was the difference.

After a tight first quarter that saw the Bulldogs tie the score at nine, the Eagles scored the last four of the period to lead 13-9 after eight minutes. By the half, Milford was holding a 24-18 lead, but they really turned it up in the third. The Eagles shot 50% from the floor in the third, while allowing St. Ursula to make just 1 of 10.

Near the five-minute mark of the third, St. Ursula made a field goal to draw within 32-21, but they would be held without a point for the final 13 minutes as the Eagles closed out the big win.

Madalyn Hills made 4 of 7 from behind the arc to finish with a season-high 14 points. Miah O’Toole and Kaylie McKenney added nine points each with the latter also matching her season-best with 13 rebounds.
