Milford enters the match-up on Cincinnati’s west side with a 2-5 record and trying to get back on track during a two-week break from Eastern Cincinnati Conference play.

THE SHORT STORY

The Eagles nearly overcame a nine-point deficit early in the fourth quarter before coming up just short at Turpin by a 35-32 score. A basket by Tori Gilman with 47 seconds left brought the Eagles within two but Kaitlyn Workman split a pair of free throws with 13 seconds left to put the hosts up three. Gilman’s game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer rimmed just off to end the game.

Milford ran into the buzzsaw that was Walnut Hills as they dropped a disappointing 61-28 decision in the first of two Battles of the ECC’s Eagles this season. Walnut shot a staggering 60 percent in the first half and 54 percent for the game, while Milford was limited to just eight field goals and 20 percent shooting for the afternoon.

Mason continues to be the heavy favorite, earning 13 of the 15 first place votes. Lakota West with one vote, Mount Notre Dame, McAuley with one vote and Ursuline make up the top-five.
