Girls Bowling At Top of ECC Following Wins Over West Clermont
SETTING THE SCENE: By recording the two highest team scores of the season, the girls bowling team began the week by taking over first place in the ECC after two wins over rival West Clermont. The Lady Eagles ended the week on a high note as well with a third place finish at the Wright State High School Classic. Currently 8-0, Milford will meet with Williamsburg for one date prior to the holiday break.
A LOOK BACK: Facing their toughest test yet, Milford faced West Clermont on 12/11 with the opportunity to take sole possession at the top of the ECC. The Lady Eagles pulled out the win with their highest team score to date and just 33 pins to spare, 2337-2304. Jessica Haines was the top Eagle with a 201 average and 402 series, and Jessica Norman (346) and MacKenzie Mason (342) finished with close series. Others helping with the win included Reaghan Kaylor (303) and Megan Cannon (267).
A total team effort led the Milford to a victory and first place in the conference on 12/12, as the Eagles defeated the Wolves once again, 2416-2255. All competitors for Milford posted series over 300, and the team score of 2416 surpassed their previous high set the day prior. Norman took her turn at the top for Milford, with a series high of 373. The remaining Eagles competing included Mason (354), Haines (329), Cannon (317) and Kaylor (300).
Haines recorded personal bests for the season as the Eagles collected a 2280-1982 win over McNicholas. Her season high 416 series was helped in part to a high game of 235 in game two. Cannon recorded her own season high game as well, 192, with a series of 333. Other ladies seeing action were Mason (304) and Hodges (290) both with two games, and single games from Kaylor (145) and Norman (136).
The Milford girls team finished in third place out of 28 teams at the Wright State High School Classic. The ladies finished just behind Troy and Fairmont, both programs that are annual participants in the state tournaments. Leading the way for Milford was senior Jessica Haines with a 362 series, only 5 pins short of landing an all-tournament first team honor. Kaylor posted a 318 series and Mason a series of 305; Norman (135) and Reagan Hodges (126) each contributed in single games.
A LOOK AHEAD: The Eagles have just one date on the calendar prior to the holiday break. Milford will head to Batavia Bowl for a nonconference match with Williamsburg High School.

INSIDE THE ECC: With big wins over West Clermont last week, the Lady Eagles stand alone at the top of the ECC at 6-0. West Clermont fell to 4-2 in the ECC, while Anderson and Turpin are both 2-2. Kings fell to 1-3, Loveland fell to 1-5 and Walnut Hills sits at 0-2. Milford continues to lead the league in team average, improving to 784.9. Find ECC standings and statistics HERE.

POLL WATCH: Milford maintained the seventh position in week five of the Cincinnati Enquirer area coaches’ poll, despite two wins over West Clermont. Seton overtook Northwest for the top spot, with Mercy, Fairfield and McAuley rounding out the top five. West Clermont fell out of the top ten but received two votes, and Walnut Hills (1) was the only other ECC program to receive votes in week five. Click HERE for the most recent area coaches’ poll.
