Girls Bowling Team to Travel to St. Ursula, Northwest in Week Ahead

THE UPCOMING DOCKET:  As 2018 winds down, the Eagles have two non-conference schools on the schedule as the final matches prior to the new year.  Milford will visit St. Ursula as well as Northwest, currently ranked #1 in the area coaches’ poll.  It will be the first time Milford has face these two programs in at least the last seven years. 

Monday, Dec. 17:       Milford at St. Ursula High School, Stone Lanes, 3:45 pm

Tuesday, Dec. 18:      Milford at Northwest High School, Northwest Lanes, 3:45 pm  

 

A LOOK BACK:

December 10 at Milford: West Clermont 2314, Milford 1841

Milford fell to a strong West Clermont squad that leads the league and boasts a strong roster.  Reaghan Kaylor led the Eagles with a team high 323 series followed by Jessica Norman’s 270.  Clarissa Kester was consistent with two games each of 117, while Fallon Austin added two games as well and a 216 series.  Sam Miller competed in one game, a new season high of 168, and Cara Gfoerer added a 68.

December 10 at Milford: West Clermont 2389, Milford 2107

Despite a season high team score of 2107, the Eagles lost the match and series to West Clermont.  Kaylor closed out an impressive week with a new personal best game for the season of 202 and a 361 high series, while Norman bounced back with a 337 series.  Both Miller (311) and Austin (292) set new personal best series of 311, and Jennifer Kelly (156) saw time with the varsity. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  Keep an eye on Loveland and West Clermont; each team improved to 6-0 in the ECC and the two will not meet until the final week of the regular season. Turpin improved to 2-2 while Walnut Hills fell to 2-4; Milford and Kings follow at 1-3 and Anderson fell to 0-6.

Milford fell from third to fourth in team average despite fallings just three pins overall to 692.7. West Clermont is way ahead of the pack at 797.2; Loveland (703.4), Turpin (700.8), and Milford round out the top four.

A look at Milford’s individual statistical leaders as of Dec. 16: 

Average: Kaylor (6th - 155.4); Norman (9th – 153.5)

High Game: Norman (4th – 214); Kaylor (8th – 202)

Series High: Norman (6th – 383); Kaylor (8th – 368)

 

ICYMI:  Jessica Norman was nominated for the Cincinnati Enquirer Female Bowling Athlete of the Week for Nov. 26.  Norman's 383 series and a high game of 214 led the Eagles to their first victory of the season, a convincing 2039-1637 defeat over McNicholas High School.

 

POLL WATCH:  Milford, who fell out of the top ten of the area coaches’ poll last week, enters once again and is now ranked eighth.  Northwest, who last week was ranked at the top of the poll, fell to third and was replaced by Mercy McAuley.  Fairfield, Northwest, Seton, and Oak Hills round out the top five. The ECC’s West Clermont moved up a spot to sixth. Loveland (6), Turpin (5), and Anderson (4) all received votes in week five in the latest poll which can be found at http://preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
