Girls Golf Set For Sectional Tournament Monday At Walden Ponds

SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford High School girls golf team will start postseason play on Monday when they take part in the OHSAA Sectional Tournament at Walden Ponds Golf Course. The Eagles are part of an 18-team field that will be looking to advance their team and individuals to next week’s district tournament. Action at Walden Ponds, located near Hamilton, gets underway at 8:30 a.m. with the Eagles beginning to tee off around 9:40.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Monday, Oct. 1 at OHSAA Sectional Tournament, Walden Ponds Golf Course, 8:30 a.m.
    • Milford to tee off beginning at 9:42 a.m.
    • Tournament field: Edgewood, Fairfield, Franklin, Harrison, Kings, Lakota East, Lebanon, Little Miami, Mason, Middletown, Milford, Ross, Seton, Springboro, Talawanda, Turpin, Walnut Hills
    • Each sectional will qualify four (4) teams and the four (4) individual low scorers not on a qualifying team to the District Tournament at Glenview Golf Course, Tuesday, October 9, 2018

 

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 26 at Walnut Hills: Milford wrapped up the regular season with a strong 172-207 victory over Walnut Hills at Forest Hills Country Club. Junior Megan Loux took medalist honors for the event with a round of 40, while senior Megan LaFrance posted a career-best with a score of 41.

POLL WATCH: In the final Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll of the year, the Eagles were one of several teams among others receiving votes. Mason was crowned poll champions after earning 10 of the 13 first place votes. Second place Ursuline took the other three top nods. Lakota East, Sycamore and Lakota West round out the top-five. The ECC was represented by Kings in seventh and Turpin in 10th with Anderson and Loveland joining the Eagles in others receiving votes. SEVERNS WINS ENQUIRER AWARD: Senior Bre Severns, thanks to the support of Eagle Nation, was voted the winner of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Golfer of the Week Award, announced on Sept. 7.
