Girls Lacrosse Begins 2018 With Three-Game Week

SETTING THE SCENE: With a new head coach at the helm, the Milford High School girls lacrosse team is set to open its 2018 season with three games over the first week. In their second season as a varsity sport, the Eagles enter this spring under the leadership of new head coach Windy Robinson. Robinson has been heavily involved in the Milford youth lacrosse program over the years and will lead a flock of Eagles that includes nine players that earned varsity experience last year.

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES: The Eagles will be out to improve on its record from its maiden varsity season last year with nine returning players. Junior Casey Roeder is the most decorated returnee as she earned second team All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference honors last year. As a sophomore, Roeder finished with nine assists and 19 ground balls from her midfield position. Junior Ellen Victory is the top returning scorer for the Eagles after tallying 10 goals a year ago. Sophomore Angel Dominguez also returns after a seven-goal, 10 ground ball freshman year performance. Other returnees to the Eagles roster include: juniors Sarah Ehrman, Sydney Hogan, Megan LaFrance, Katie Price and sophomores Alexa Rouse and Emily Stiles.

POLL WATCH: Milford did not receive any votes in the preseason area coaches’ poll which encompasses all divisions and is sponsored by the Cincinnati Enquirer. Indian Hill holds a one point lead over Sycamore for the top spot on the strength of a 2-1 edge on first place votes. Mount Notre Dame in a tie for third with Mariemont, earned the final No. 1 nod. Mason completes the top-five with the ECC also being represented by Kings in a tie for ninth, along with Walnut Hills, Anderson and Turpin all receiving votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.

 

COLLEGE BOUND EAGLE: Class of 2018 member Ashley Costa has already announced her intention to continue her athletic and academic careers on the collegiate level. Costa has committed to Cincinnati’s Mount St. Joseph University where he will compete in both lacrosse and soccer.
