Girls Lacrosse Opens Tournament Play Monday At Sycamore

SETTING THE SCENE: In just its second year as a varsity program, the Milford High School girls lacrosse team will be searching for its first-ever OHSAA Tournament win on Monday evening when it travels to Sycamore. The meeting will feature the Eagles, 5-12 on the season, battling the 5-9 Aviators. The winner will move on to face the winner of Anderson and St. Ursula. Click here for the tournament brackets.

A LOOK BACK: May 7 at Miamisburg: Sarah Cardell and Ellen Victory combined for five goals, but it wasn’t enough as Miamisburg knocked off Milford by an 11-8 score. Angel Dominguez helped the Eagles’ cause with five draw control wins and a goal, while Sarah Ehrman and Megan LaFrance rounded out the list of goal scorers. Sydney Hogan tallied a pair of assists, while Cardell and LaFrance had one each.

 

May 8 vs. Loveland: Milford fell to one of the area’s top team in Loveland by a 23-0 score. Ashley Costa had three draw controls in the game for the Eagles.

 

May 10 vs. Cincinnati Country Day: Milford closed the regular season at home, falling to Cincinnati Country Day by a 17-5 score. Final stats for the game were not immediately available.

POLL WATCH: Milford did not receive any votes in the final area all divisions coaches’ poll, sponsored by the Cincinnati Enquirer. Mount Notre Dame was crowned the poll champions after earning all 10 first place votes that were cast. Mariemont, the ECC’s Loveland, Indian Hill and a tie between Mason and Summit Country Day completed the top-five. The ECC was also represented by Anderson in 10th, along with Kings and Turpin in others receiving votes. The final poll can be viewed at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.

 

COLLEGE BOUND EAGLE: Class of 2018 member Ashley Costa has announced her intention to continue her athletic and academic careers on the collegiate level. Costa has committed to Cincinnati’s Mount St. Joseph University where she will compete in both lacrosse and soccer.
