Girls Soccer Earns Seven All-Conference Honorees

Posted on: November 8, 2019

Continuing the trend of outstanding performances at Milford during the fall season, the Eagles girls soccer team recently saw six of its players awarded a berth on the 2019 All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference squads. Of the seven, junior Beth Cook, along with seniors Tori Kittrell and Trina Manning were placed on the prestigious All-ECC first team.

Additional honorees for Milford include sophomore Lyric Birkley, junior Kylie Clifton and senior Marley Smith as part of the second team and senior Chloe Lorenz grabbing honorable mention.

Cook was one of the most dominant players in the ECC this fall, tying for the top spot among all players with 20 goals scored, including three hat tricks. Her 46 points were good for second in the final statistics, while she added six assists as well.

Kittrell was a stalwart of the outstanding Milford defense that allowed just 26 goals in 17 matches and pitched a pair of shutouts. She also got it done on the offensive end, tallying four assists.

Like Cook, Manning was another big time scoring threat as evidenced by her three goal performance in the season’s second match against Little Miami. By year’s end, Manning had scored six goals and tacked on five assists to finish with 17 points.

Despite being just a sophomore, Birkley now has two full seasons of varsity experience under her belt. Her second prep campaign saw her score a hat trick (with an assist) against Walnut Hills on her way to a seven goal, five assist, 19 point campaign. Clifton was a beast between the pipes, leading the ECC with 149 saves and recording a pair of shutouts. Smith and Lorenz were both big on the defensive end of the pitch, with the latter scoring one goal late in the season after returning from an injury.

Amazingly, only Kittrell and Manning had earned All-ECC honors prior to this season, with the former now having the distinction of being a three-time first team selection.
