Girls Soccer Faces West Clermont For First Time, Hosts Lakota West In Week Ahead

SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford High School girls soccer team will face a new opponent for the first time, while also taking on a challenging non-conference match-up in the week ahead as the Eagles work to edge closer to the .500 mark for the year. The Eagles are coming off wins in two of three matches last week and will be trying to improve on a 3-5-3 record this week with the first-ever trip to West Clermont leading up to a Saturday matinee at home against Lakota West. Milford enters the match against West Clermont tied with the Wolves for second in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference at 2-0-2.

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 19 vs. Withrow: The Eagles finished with their highest single-match goal count in almost two years as they picked up a 7-0 ECC win over Withrow. Six different Eagles found the back of the net led by Emily Dominique who scored the first two goals of her junior year. Classmate Ali Kirk also had a big game, scoring her third goal and assisting on two others. Other goal scorers included Madison Chitwood, Ava Cook, Emma Netzel and regular goalkeeper Jessica Morgan. Kirk was joined in the assist category by Chitwood, Natalie Rogers and Bryn Rolfsen (two).

 

Sept. 20 vs. Little Miami: A competitive contest against a solid Little Miami squad saw the Eagles fall by a 1-0 score.

 

Sept. 23 vs. Oak Hills: Junior Ali Kirk tallied her fourth goal of the season, tying Ali Claus and Bryn Rolfsen for team-high honors as the Eagles picked up a 1-0 win over Oak Hills during SoccerFest at Charity J. Lucas Field.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles did not receive any votes in the Sept. 25 edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Division I area coaches’ poll. Perennial ECC power Loveland continues to show the way at the top of the city rankings, earning all 19 first place votes and holding a comfortable margin over No. 2 Mason. The rest of the top-five shows St. Ursula, Fairfield and Sycamore. The ECC is also represented by Turpin in eighth, with West Clermont, Anderson and Withrow joining Milford in the others receiving votes category.
