Girls Soccer Welcomes Lakota East Saturday Night In Next Tournament Contest
SETTING THE SCENE: On the heels of the program’s highest scoring output in a decade, the Milford High School girls soccer team will continue its OHSAA Tournament journey on Saturday night when Lakota East visits Eagle Stadium. The Eagles (8-5-4) hammered Edgewood by an 11-1 score on Tuesday night, tying for the second-most goals in a match in a program history. That victory sets the 12th-seeded Eagles up for a match-up against No. 14 Lakota East in a contest slated to begin at 7 p.m.

A LOOK BACK: Oct. 16 vs. Edgewood: Seven different Eagles found the back of the net as Milford scored an astounding 11-1 triumph over Edgewood. The scoring outburst matched the second-highest performance in school history, behind only a 12-0 OHSAA Tournament win over Withrow in 2008. Beth Cook led the Eagles with her first career hat trick, while assisting on a fourth goal. Madison Chitwood and Zoey McAninch added two goals each, while Landen Gooley scored once and had two assists. Ayden Cavill and Ellie Redrow finished with a goal and an assist each and Ali Kirk scored a goal. Milford players to finish with one assist included Lyric Birkley, Ali Claus, Emily Dominique, Kaitlyn Geis, Tori Kittrell and Catrionna Manning.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles finished just outside the top-10 in the final Cincinnati Enquirer Division I coaches’ poll. Loveland was named the poll champions, by just a single point over Fairfield. The Tigers earned eight first place votes to six for the Indians. Tenth-place St. Ursula earned the final No. 1 vote. The rest of the final top-five includes Mason, Mount Notre Dame and Mercy McAuley. The ECC is also represented by Anderson in sixth, with Turpin joining Milford among others receiving votes.
