Girls Track & Field Team Eyes Third Milford Invite Championship

SETTING THE SCENE: The Lady Eagles finished at an impressive fifth place among twenty-one teams at the Anderson Invitational, among a number of other Eastern Cincinnati Conference teams.  This week the girls will join with the boys track and field team to host the annual Milford Invitational.

 

A LOOK BACK:  The Lady Eagles finished fifth at the Anderson Invitational, near the top along with four other ECC league teams.  The Eagles were led by Andrea Armstrong who won the 400 meter dash and the long jump, and Haley Rodeffer with second place finishes in both the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles.  The 4x100 meter relay team of Caitlyn Wiscombe, Madison Chitwood, Megan Kussman and Bryn Rolfsen finished in third place. 

The full list of Milford athletes placing in the top eight of each event were as follows:

100 Meter Hurdles

  • 2nd place, Haley Rodeffer (15.98)

100 Meter Dash

  • 3rd place, Andrea Armstrong (12.71)
  • 7th place, Bryn Rolfsen (13.21)

400 Meter Dash

  • 1st place, Andrea Armstrong (1:00.18)

300 Meter Hurdles

  • 2nd place, Haley Rodeffer (48.73)

200 Meter Dash

  • 3rd place, Andrea Armstrong (25.93)

Discus

  • 6th place, Emma Neal (100-02) 

Triple Jump

  • 7th place, Megan Kussman (28-08.25)

Long Jump

  • 1st place, Andrea Armstrong (16-02.25)
  • 4th place, Jenna Bellonby (15-05.00)

High Jump

  • 6th place, Julia Miller (4-10.00) 

4x100 Meter Relay

  • 3rd place: (Caitlyn Wiscombe, Madison Chitwood, Kussman, Rolfsen (52.84) 

The top five teams were all from the ECC.  Just one point separated the top three teams, as Kings won the team championship by just .5 ahead of Turpin, who was only .5 points ahead of Loveland.  Anderson (92 points) and Milford (69 points) rounded out the top five.

A LOOK AHEAD:  The Lady Eagles will be home this week as both teams host the annual Milford Invitational.  In 2017, the Milford girls team finished in first place for the second consecutive year, nearly 20 points ahead of the second place team.

POLL WATCH:  Week five finds Mason again at the top of the area coaches’ poll for Division I girls track.   Kings of the ECC moved up to second from third, changing positions with Princeton.  Anderson, Lakota East and Withrow held at fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.  Turpin, who last week fell out of the top ten, enters again at seventh followed by Loveland.  Milford (15) was joined by Walnut Hills (7) and West Clermont (1) in receiving votes in week five’s poll.
