Girls Volleyball Squad To Host Loveland, Walnut Hills and Volley for a Cause This Week

SETTING THE SCENE:  Milford’s girls volleyball team will compete on the home court for the next three contests, staring with ECC matches with Loveland and Walnut Hills. The Lady Eagles will then end the week hosting the annual "Volley for a Cause" on Saturday when they host Little Miami.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET:  Milford will begin a week long home stand with the ECC leader, #7 Loveland (4-0), then host the ECC’s Walnut Hills (2-2)   Saturday’s home match with Little Miami will serve as the team’s annual Volley for a Cause fundraiser.  Funds raised from Volley for a Cause events will benefit “Feed our Flock,” a mobile food pantry program that was created to help teens access food in a convenient and private way.  All proceeds will be used to purchase food to fill the mobile pantries which can be found in varying locations in the Junior and Senior High Schools.

Tuesday, 9/11:             Loveland High School @ Milford, 7:00 pm

Thursday, 9/13:           Walnut Hills High School @ Milford, 7:00 pm

Saturday, 9/15:            Little Miami High School @ Milford, 12:00 pm – Volley for a Cause

 

A LOOK BACK:

September 4 at Milford: West Clermont 3, Milford 0

The Lady Eagles were narrowly defeated by West Clermont, as the Wolves won 25-22, 25-23, 25-20.

 

September 6 at Anderson:  Anderson 3, Milford 1

Milford won the first set 26-24, but fell to Anderson as the Redskins won the next three 25-21, 25-22, 25-12.

 

September 8 at Milford: Milford 3, Princeton 0

Milford improved to 5-5 on the season following a win over Princeton in straight sets of 25-8, 25-7, 25-18.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  Loveland sits alone atop the ECC standings as of Sept. 9, followed by West Clermont at 2-1.  Turpin fell to 2-2, tied with Kings and Walnut Hills.  Milford is 1-3 while Withrow is 0-4.   Lady Eagles in the top ten of the stats as of 9/7:

Serves: Emily Morgan (t-5th), Julia Gill (t-5th), Abby Thierauf (t-10th), Molly Buck (t-10th)

Assists:  Thierauf (2nd)

Digs:  Morgan (4th)

Blocks:  Erica Sharp (5th)

 

POLL WATCH: Ursuline held on to remain atop the area coaches’ poll for week four, while Mercy McAuley moved to second and Mt. Notre Dame fell a spot to third; St. Ursula and Mason held at fourth and fifth. The ECC’s Loveland moved to sixth from seventh and Turpin held at ninth. ECC programs receiving votes include Anderson (16), West Clermont (12), Walnut Hills (3) and Kings (2).  Despite receiving six votes in week three, Milford is not listed for week four.   Click HERE to find the area coaches’ poll.
