Girls Volleyball to See West Clermont, Anderson in Week Ahead

SETTING THE SCENE: The Eagles collected their first Eastern Cincinnati Conference victory at Withrow and enter week two of conference play with an even record.  Milford’s squad will have an opportunity to add two more to the win column in the ECC when they face West Clermont and Anderson in the week ahead.

  

THE UPCOMING DOCKET:  Another two conference matches await the Lady Eagles.  Milford will host West Clermont (1-1) and travel to Anderson (0-2) in the coming week, and will head to Princeton (2-4 overall) for a nonconference contest on Saturday.  West Clermont, Anderson and Princeton, like Milford, all sit just outside the top ten of the area coaches’ poll.

Tuesday, 9/4:               West Clermont High School @ Milford, 7:00 pm

Thursday, 9/6:             Milford @ Anderson High School, 7:00 pm

Saturday, 9/8:              Milford @ Princeton High School, 2:00 pm

 

A LOOK BACK:

August 28 at Kings: Kings 3, Milford 0

   Kings won the first ECC match for Milford, who battled but feel in three: 25-20, 25-23, 25-16.

 

August 30 at Withrow: Milford 3, Withrow 0

   With a 3-0 win over Withrow, Milford improved to 1-1 in the ECC. Scores of the straight set victory were 25-7, 25-4, 25-4. 

 

September 1 at Milford: Oak Hills 3, Milford 0

   The Highlanders defeated the Lady Eagles in straight sets of 25-11, 25-12, 25-18.

  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  Loveland and Turpin lead the ECC early in the season, both 2-0. Milford, West Clermont, Kings and Walnut Hills follow with 1-1 conference records.  Anderson and Withrow (1-1) are still looking for the first conference victory.  As of 9/3, five Lady Eagles are ranked as statistical leaders.

POLL WATCH: Week three of the Cincinnati Enquirer area coaches’ poll finds Ursuline Academy, Mt. Notre Dame and Mercy McAuley voted again as the top three the top three programs.  St. Ursula is now fourth, while Mason fell to fifth.  The ECC’s Loveland (seventh) and Turpin (ninth) held their rankings for the third consecutive week.  Anderson, voted into tenth in week two, fell out of the poll but received 13 votes.  West Clermont received 13 votes as well, as did Kings (10), Walnut Hills (9), and Milford (6) in week three’s poll.
