Haines Honored with SWOC/ECC First Team As Girls Bowling Takes Perfect Record Into Second Half of Season

SETTING THE SCENE:  The unbeaten Lady Eagles will take an 11-0 record into the second half of the season.  The ladies may be tested by Turpin this week, who nearly upset West Clermont earlier in the season.  Milford’s girls bowling team finished in second place at the SWOC/ECC Challenge, where Jessica Haines earned First Team All-Tournament honors.

 

A LOOK BACK:  The Lady Eagles returned to form following the holiday break, earning a 2138-1629 victory over Williamsburg on Wed., 1/3.  Jessica Haines led Milford, as she posted a personal season high game of 248 and a 439 series.  Haines was joined by Jessica Norman (340), Megan Cannon (330), and MacKenzie Mason (320), while teammates Reaghan Kaylor (138) and Reagan Hodges (155) each added a game in the match.

Milford earned another win on Thurs., 1/4, this time over New Richmond. Four Lady Eagles each competed in two games; Haines (374), Cannon (356), Mason (315), and Kaylor (278).  Norman contributed with a 171 in game two as Milford collected a 2267-1353 victory.

Haines earned First Team All-Tournament honors at the ECC/SWOC Tournament, leading the Eagles to a second place finish.  Haines had games of 182, 244, and 201 for an impressive total of 627. Other Eagles with three game series included Norman (493), Mason (483) and Cannon (457).  Hodges posted a 215 in game three, a new personal season record, while Kaylor’s 190 in game one was nearly a personal best as well.  The second place finish was just behind Northwest, the host team of the tournament.

 

A LOOK AHEAD: Milford will face Turpin of the ECC this week, as well as the annual Lancer Baker Bash.  The girls placed eighth at the 2017 Lancer Baker Bash, where they fell to eventual champion Beavercreek.

INSIDE THE ECC:  With no conference action once again, the ECC standings remain unchanged and the Lady Eagles remain the conference leaders at 6-0.  West Clermont is 4-2 while Anderson and Turpin are both 2-2.  At 1-3 Kings if followed by Loveland 1-5 and Walnut Hills at 0-2. Five Eagles are among the individual leaders within the top ten of the ECC:

Megan Cannon:  overall average (10th – 157.0)

Jessica Haines: overall average (1st – 184.3); high game (1st – 248); series high (1st – 439)

Reagan Hodges: high game (6th – 215)

MacKenzie Mason:  overall average (8th – 163.3)

Jessica Norman: high series (9th – 373)

 

POLL WATCH: The top five held steady with no changes in the top five of the most recent Cincinnati Enquirer coaches’ poll.  Milford’s girls bowling team maintained fifth place in week eight again behind Seton, Northwest, Fairfield and Mercy.  West Clermont moved back into the poll at tenth, while Loveland, who was ninth last week, fell out but received five votes.  Anderson (2) and Walnut Hills (1) each received votes in the poll again for week eight.  Click HERE for the most recent area coaches’ poll.
