Kings, Big Blue Challenge Await Boys Bowling Team

A LOOK BACK: Milford's first victory of the season was a close 2505-2486 victory over McNicholas High School, #4 in the preseason rankings for the Division II area coaches’ poll.  The Eagles were led by Nathan Hawkins' two-game series of 451, followed by Franklin Abt’s high game of 233 and 404 series. A.J. Kaylor posted a 387 series followed by Kyle Fanning (318) and Michael Kow (253).

 

A LOOK AHEAD:  This week the Eagles (1-0) will face their first conference opponent of the year with home and away meetings with Kings (0-1).  The week closes at the Annual Big Blue Challenge, where Milford finished 12th in 2017.

Mon., Nov. 26:            Kings High School at Milford, Cherry Grove Lanes, 3:45 pm      

Tues., Nov. 27:           Milford at Kings High School, Mason Bowl, 3:45 pm

Sat., Dec. 1:                 Milford at Big Blue Challenge, The Game of Fairfield, 9:00 am

           

A LOOK INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  With conference play yet to begin, Milford, Loveland and Turpin sit atop the ECC standings, all 1-0 in non-conference action.  Kings is 0-1, while Anderson competed at a tournament over the weekend and Walnut Hills and West Clermont open the season this week.

Though early in the season, Milford is off to a strong start and atop the team leaders with a 906.5 team average.  Statistical leaders for the Eagles:

Average: Hawkins (1st - 225.5); Abt (2nd - 202); Kaylor (5th - 193.5)

High Game: Abt (1st – 233); Hawkins (2nd – 226); Kaylor (t-4th – 210)

Series High: Hawkins (1st – 451); Abt (2nd – 404); Kaylor (5th – 387); Fanning (9th – 318)

 

POLL WATCH: Elder moved up to the top of the area coaches’ poll for week one, replacing Northwest who now sits in second followed by Fairfield.  Mason, previously ranked eighth, vaults to fourth in week one while LaSalle falls from third to fifth. The ECC’s West Clermont falls to tenth from sixth. Again, Milford (11) sits just outside the top ten, and is joined by ECC programs Kings (8), Anderson (7), Loveland (6) and Walnut Hills (4) in receiving votes for week one, which can be found at http://preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
