Lakota West, Annual Holiday Classic Await Girls Bowling

THE UPCOMING DOCKET:  Milford’s girls team (1-1, 2-1) will travel to the annual Holiday Classic at the renowned Western Bowl S&S in the week ahead, but not before Lakota West (1-0 overall) hosts the Eagles at Gilmore Lanes on Dec. 4.  At the Holiday Classic in 2017, the Eagles finished 5th of 27 teams.

Tues., Dec. 4:              Milford at Lakota West High School, Gilmore Lanes, 3:45 pm

Sat., Dec. 8:                Milford at Holiday Classic, Western Bowl, 9:00 am          

 

A LOOK BACK:

November 26 at Milford: Milford 2036, Kings 1927

The Eagles turned it on for their first conference match of the season and defeated Kings.  Jessica Norman led Milford in the conference victory with a high series of 335, while Regan Hodges and Reaghan Kaylor both scored series of 305.  Sam Miller and Fallon Austin added series of 284 and 254 respectively.

November 27 at Kings: Kings 1858, Milford 1763

Milford suffered their first loss of the season to Kings, 1763-1858.  Hodges posted a high game of 148 and series of 274 to lead the Eagles on the day, with Kaylor’s series of 266 close behind.  Norman (249), Austin (213) and Marissa Nunlist (179) each joined with two games in the conference loss.

December 2 at Big Blue Challenge: 

Norman was Milford’s top girls bowler at the annual Big Blue Challenge with a three game high series of 489, high game of 175 and 163 average.  Kaylor scored a 173 in game two with a three game average of 147.  Hodges (avg. 140) and Sam Miller (avg. 136.3) each played three games, and Austin added a 126 in game three.  The girls finished 9th of 28 teams.

           

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  Loveland and West Clermont, each with 2-0 records, assumed the lead in the ECC standings just two weeks into the season.  Milford and Kings follow at 1-1 after splitting their matches last week.  Turpin (0-0), and Anderson and Walnut Hills (0-2) round out the conference standings.  

Milford fell to third in team average (698.2) behind West Clermont (782.3) and Loveland (704.3).

A look at Milford’s individual statistical leaders as of Dec. 3:

Average: Norman (6th – 161.8); Kaylor (t-9th – 153.3)

High Game: Norman (2nd – 214); Kaylor (6th – 188); Hodges (8th – 179)

Series High: Norman (2nd – 383); Kaylor (4th – 368)

 

ICYMI:  Jessica Norman was nominated for the Cincinnati Enquirer Female Bowling Athlete of the Week for Nov. 26.  Norman's 383 series and a high game of 214 led the Eagles to their first victory of the season, a convincing 2039-1637 defeat over McNicholas High School.

 

POLL WATCH:  Despite a loss to Kings, Milford remained in the top ten of the latest area coaches’ poll and is now tied in tenth with Hamilton.  Mercy McAuley moved up three spots and is the top ranked team followed by Seton, Fairfield, Oak Hills and Northwest, who fell from third to fifth. The ECC’s West Clermont fell to seventh, while Loveland enters the poll in eighth.  Turpin (6) is the only ECC program to receive votes in the latest poll, which can be found at http://preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
