MHS Boys Volleyball Squad Hosts Three In The Week Ahead
SETTING THE SCENE: Last week the team faced some of the area’s best competition, but Milford boys volleyball gained some confidence despite ending the week with a 2-6 record. The Eagles look to improve that record this week, with just three matches on the schedule and all on Milford’s home court.
A LOOK BACK: The Eagles opened the week hosting Loveland, an Eastern Cincinnati Conference rival on Tues., 4/12. Loveland won the first game, and though Milford narrowed the score the Tigers took game two, 25-20. The Eagles rallied to force a fourth game by winning game three with a score of 25-22, but Loveland prevailed with a 25-17 win in the fourth set.
Milford traveled to West Chester on Wed., 4/13 to face #4 Lakota East, one of the best and tallest teams in the area. The history and experience of Lakota’s team was evident, as the Eagles were not able to build enough momentum to challenge the Thunderhawks, and Lakota won in three sets.
The competition was more even at Thursday’s match with Fairfield on Milford’s home court. Milford won the first set, and though Fairfield came from behind to take the next three sets for the win, each set was tight and anybody’s game.
The Eagles ended the week at a tri-match with #6 Mason and #7 Bishop Fenwick. Milford fell to Bishop in two sets. And, despite a lack of varsity experience, Milford kept Mason on their toes and led at many points during the games, and Milford lost two heartbreakers, 25-23, and 25-21.
THE WEEK AHEAD: After facing three of the top-ten teams in the area last week, the Eagles get a bit of a break. Three matches are on the schedule, all on Milford’s home court.

- Tuesday, 4/19: Middletown High School @ Milford, 7:00 pm
- Thursday, 4/21: Withrow High School @ Milford, 7:00 pm
POLL WATCH: Though not in the top ten, Milford entered the conversation in this week’s coaches’ poll from the Cincinnati Enquirer. St. Xavier and Elder maintained the first a second positions for week three, while Moeller and Lakota East moved up to third and fourth. Alter fell from second to fifth. The ECC’s Loveland (9) and Milford (1) were the only ECC schools to receive votes in this week’s poll.
