MHS Competition Cheer Team Receives Bid For Americheer InterNational Championship

Posted on: November 29, 2016

On Saturday, November 19, the Milford High School Competition Cheer Team competed in the Americheer Buckeye Scarlet Open National Championship in Columbus, earning the titles of both the National Champion Division Champion and National Champion Grand Champion.  The titles earned the squad an automatic bid to the Americheer InterNational Championship in Orlando, Florida.

The Competition Team is made up of 19 cheerleaders from all grade levels at the high school. In the Buckeye Scarlet Open they competed against one other high school team and 35 All Star Cheer teams. The Milford team won not only their division, but in doing so compiled the highest score out of all the teams that competed.

“This was a great win for the Milford Competition Team and for the Milford High School cheer program”, according to Head Coach Christy Gregory. “These girls work extremely hard at their sport and have proven to be a team that can successfully compete at the next level. We are extremely excited and proud about receiving the automatic bid and the opportunity to represent the Milford community at the InterNational meet in March.”

To help offset the costs of competing, the competition team will be holding fund raising events throughout the winter. They are also looking for corporate sponsorships from the Milford community businesses.
