Milford’s boys cross country team headed to Loveland Invitational
SETTING THE SCENE: The MHS boys cross country squad kicked off the season at the Lakota East Classic Invitational where the placed ninth among a field of twelve, led by senior A.J. Dickerson who finished third. The Eagles will now head to nearby Home of the Brave Park to participate in the Loveland Invitational.
THE UPCOMING DOCKET: Next up for the Eagles; the Loveland Invitational at Home of the Brave Park. The boys varsity will take the starting line at 11:00 am, while the boys open will begin at 12:00 pm. A parking fee of $5.00 will be charged for each car.
A LOOK BACK: As a team the Eagles finished ninth of twelve teams at the Lakota East Fall Classic. With a time of 16:53, senior A.J. Dickerson finished 3rd overall, just six seconds behind the winner and an impressive feat in his first ever cross country race. Sophomore Dylan Mullarkey (56th) ran an 18:47, followed closely by classmate A.J. Kaylor (60th) with a new career best time of 19:04. The PRs were continued by freshman Zeke Edwards (72nd, 19:36), senior Michael Carraro (85th, 20:01) and sophomore Kyle Williams (105th, 21:25). Michael Faler (108th, 22:49), a junior, finished just behind Williams.
The Elder Panthers took the team crown, followed by the ECC’s Kings and Walnut Hills. LaSalle and Ross finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Jarod Timmers (16:47) of Elder won the individual medal while his teammate Cooper Mullen (16:51) finished second. With Milford’s Dickerson third, Nick Vogt (LaSalle) and John Nice (Wyoming) rounded out the top five.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Senior A.J. Dickerson, new to cross country, is the ECC leader with a time of 16:53. After week one of competition, seven Eagles rank in the top half of the ECC standings: Dylan Mullarkey (37th); A.J. Kaylor (41st); Zeke Edwards (51st); Michael Carraro (66th); Max McCann (77th); Luke Hawes (92nd); and Kyle Williams (94th). The Eagles’ overall record is currently 3-8.
POLL WATCH: Following the Lakota Classic, Milford received four votes in the Cincinnati Enquirer’s area coaches’ poll for week one. St. Xavier and Mason held steady as the top two programs while Elder rose to third, replacing Turpin from the prior week. Kings held at fourth and Lakota West rose to fifth from seventh. Turpin and Anderson are currently sixth and seventh joined by Walnut Hills at eighth. Loveland moved into the poll at tenth. Find the most recent poll HERE.
