Milford Announces Hall of Fame Class of 2016

The Milford High School Athletic Department and the Milford Athletic Boosters Club are pleased to announce the Milford Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee Class of 2016. Four individuals have been chosen by the Hall of Fame committee. They are: 

  • Dave Ackerman, Class of 1986

(Cross Country, Track & Field, Coach)

  • Julie Murray Frye, Class of 1987

(Soccer, Track & Field)

  • Kyle Frederick, Class of 1995

(Wrestling)

  • Elliott Keefer, Class of 2007

(Water Polo, Swimming)

Hall of Fame night is scheduled for Friday, February 10, 2017. Festivities will include a pre-induction reception and dinner for the new inductees, their families, friends and the current members of the Milford Hall of Fame. Induction ceremonies will be in the Fley Center Gymnasium prior to the Milford boy’s varsity basketball game versus Walnut Hills High School.

Inductees will receive a plaque recognizing their athletic accomplishments from the Milford Athletic Boosters Club. A lifetime pass to all Milford Athletic Department events will also be presented. A replica of the plaque will be placed in the Milford Athletic Hall of Fame located in the Fley Center lobby at Milford High School. Dave Ackerman

Class of 1986

  • Earned 6 varsity letters in cross country and track & field
  • 1st team All-Eastern Hills League (EHL) in cross country (1983, 1984)
  • 1st team All-Eastern Metro League (EML) in cross country (1985)
  • Member of the EHL cross country championship team (1983)
  • EHL cross country individual champion (1984)
  • Two-time 2nd team all-city in cross country (1984, 1985)
  • 1st state qualifier in cross country in MHS history (1984)
  • Three-time state qualifier in cross country (1984, 1985, 1986)
  • Two-time team captain in cross country (1984, 1985)
  • Set MHS school record holder in the 3200m run and 3200m relay
  • Set Cincinnati Heart Mini-Marathon (15K) record for age 15 & under
  • Competed two years at DePaul University in cross country prior to graduation
  • Began coaching career in 1990, coaching both boys and girls cross country and track & field during his career
  • Coached two Fort Ancient Valley League (FAVC) Boys Cross Country championship teams (2007, 2008)
  • Two-time FAVC Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year (2007, 2008)
  • Southwest Ohio Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year (2007)

Julie Murray Frye

Class of 1987

  • Earned 7 varsity letters in soccer and track & field
  • 1st team All-Eastern Metro League (EML) in soccer (1986)
  • Honorable Mention All-City in soccer (1986)
  • Team Captain in soccer (1986)
  • MHS girls soccer MVP (1986)
  • MHS Female Athlete of the Year (1987)
  • Set MHS school record holder in the 1600m relay team
  • Two-time district & regional qualifier in the 400m relay and 800m relay (1985, 1986)
  • Attended College of Boca Raton (Lynn University) on a soccer scholarship (1987), playing in the NAIA national soccer semi-finals
  • Transferred to Ohio State University (1988-90) and continued to play club soccer
  • Qualified and competed in the Boston Marathon (2015) 

Kyle Frederick

Class of 1995

  • Earned 4 varsity letters in wrestling
  • Set the MHS wrestling school record with 115 career wins
  • Greater Miami Conference (GMC) league wrestling champion (1995)
  • Two-time 1st team All-GMC in wrestling (1994, 1995)
  • Ranked 2nd in state of Ohio in wrestling in the 130 lb class (1995)
  • District wrestling champion (1992)
  • MHS first four-time state wrestling qualifier (1992, 1993, 1994, 1995)
  • MHS first state wrestling finalist (1993)
  • State of Ohio runner-up in wrestling (1993)
  • MHS wrestling career tournament record
  • 12 – 1st place finishes
  • 10 – 3rd place finishes
  • 4 – 2nd place finishes
  • 3 – 4th place finishes
  • Three-time Ohio Junior National team member in Free-Style and Greco-Roman style (1992, 1993, 1994)
  • Competed in wrestling at the U.S. Air Force Academy (1996)
  • Transferred to the University of Findlay and continued wrestling career
  • NAIA Wrestling All-American (1997)
  • Ranked 3rd in the S. (all college divisions) in the 134 lb weight class (1997)

Elliott Keefer

Class of 2007

  • Earned 7 varsity letters in water polo and swimming
  • Three-time team MVP in water polo (2004, 2005, 2006)
  • Team captain of the state water polo championship team (2006)
  • Three-time All-Ohio in water polo (2nd team – 2004, 1st team – 2005, 2006)
  • 5th team All-American in water polo (2006)
  • Set season and career record for shots attempted and shots made in water polo
  • Three-time Greater Miami Conference (GMC) champion in swimming (2006, 2007)
  • Team captain in swimming (2007)
  • Eleven-time district qualifier in swimming (2005, 2006, 2007)
  • Four-time state qualifier in swimming (2005, 2006, 2007)
  • Three-time state finalist (100m breaststroke, 8th – 2005, 7th – 2006, 5th – 2007)
  • Set MHS school record in six different swimming events
  • Big 10 Champion in the 100m breaststroke as a walk-on at Ohio State University (2010)
  • Competed in swimming in the World Championships (2011)
  • Competed in the US Olympic Swimming Trials (2008, 2012)
