Milford Celebrates Anniversary of Final Four Team, Hall of Fame Coach Dixon

Posted on: January 6, 2023

Feeling nostalgic? Long-time fans of Milford High School Athletics were over the winter holidays as the school celebrated the 30th anniversary of the 1992-93 Girls Basketball Team which reached unprecedented heights by qualifying for the Ohio State Final Four. Also celebrated during the event was Milford Hall of Fame head coach Ted Dixon.

The celebration featured nearly 30 alumni who played for Coach Dixon and their families. Along with a reception, the alums took photos with this season’s Eagles while watching the team’s home game against McNicholas High School. To date, the 1992-93 Eagles remain the most accomplished Milford basketball program in school history, boys or girls.

Coach Dixon left a lasting legacy at Milford where he was the head coach from 1980-1996. During his tenure, Milford won 237 games, five conference championships, four district titles, the 1993 regional championship and Final Four appearance. All told, Coach Dixon held a 70% winning percentage and coached 10 Milford Hall of Famers.

“What a great event,” Milford Director of Athletics Aaron Zupka stated. “It was so nice to have so many alumni back to celebrate this milestone anniversary as well as honor Coach Dixon for his lasting contributions to Milford Athletics. We’re grateful for all the alums that took time to return to Milford to help us celebrate.”
