Milford High School Announces Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023

The Milford High School Athletic Department and the Milford Athletic Boosters Club are pleased to announce inductions for the Milford Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2023. Three individuals have been chosen by the Hall of Fame committee for enshrinement. They are:
• Mary (Gordon) Burnside, Class of 1978
• Rob Murphy, Class of 1993
• Dr. Frank Noyes M.D., Contributor

The trio will be inducted into the Hall of Fame prior to Milford’s boys varsity basketball game on Saturday (February 4) against Harrison. Festivities include a pre-induction reception and dinner for the new inductees, their families and friends and the current members of the Milford Hall of Fame.

Inductees will receive a plaque recognizing their accomplishments from the Milford Athletic Boosters Club. A lifetime pass to all Milford Athletic Department events will also be presented. Each inductee’s name will be added to the Milford Athletic Hall of Fame recognition plaque located in the Fley Center lobby at Milford High School.

Induction Class of 2023 Bios

Mary (Gordon) Burnside (Class of 1978)
• Lettered in four different sports during her career: volleyball (3), basketball (2), track & field (2) and softball (1)
• Left her mark in basketball as a two-time EHL All-Star and an all-city honorable mention selection
• Led her team in scoring and was team MVP and team captain
• Was a two-time district qualifier in track & field
• Also named team MVP and Outstanding Runner
• Held a share of the 440 relay school record at the time of her graduation
• Served as co-captain of the volleyball squad and earned the most improved player award

Rob Murphy (Class of 1993)
• Earned four varsity letters in baseball, along with three in football
• Was twice an all-conference award winner and a one-time all-city honorable mention pick
• As a senior, authored back-to-back no-hitters, including one perfect game and one in which he set a school record with 18 strikeouts
• Went on to play collegiately at Rend Lake College and Lambuth University, before a three-year career as a professional in the independent Frontier League
• In football, held school records at time of his graduation for longest pass (76 yards) and longest run (93 yards) from scrimmage

Dr. Frank Noyes, M.D. (Contributor)
• Has served as team doctor Milford Athletics since 1986, always making Milford student-athletes his number one priority
• Dedicated his career to the athletes of Milford High School and making sports safer for all female athletes
• Opened the Noyes Knee Institute in 1986
• Has been a main sponsor of Flight Night, camp t-shirts, and helped purchase a new gator for the sports medicine program
• Developed Sportsmetrics at Milford, one of a few proven ACL prevention programs in the world
