Milford Student-Athletes Receive First-Ever Aerie Awards

The best of the best among Milford High School student-athletes gathered on May 24 for the first-ever Aerie Awards. The awards are named for the large nest of a bird of prey, especially an Eagle. The awards were voted on by Milford student-athletes and coaches.

Winners are noted in BOLD below.

Award #1: Male Flock Leader of the Year
This award is given to a male student who displays exemplary leadership within the Flock and promotes positive sportsmanship and school spirit.

Nominees: Ethan Foster, Adam Horn, Bryce Perkins & Rylan Haskins

Award #2: Female Flock Leader of the Year
This award is given to a female student who displays exemplary leadership within the Flock and promotes positive sportsmanship and school spirit.

Nominees: Kennedy Edgar, Sophie Wohl, Liv Thierauf & Brynn Morgan

Award #3: Male Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year
This award is given to a male athlete who has competed and excelled in two or more sports during 2021-2022.

Nominees: Jacob Smith, Luke Eminger, Collin Kittrell, Michael Kirk, Luke Ray & Nick Scally

Award #4: Female Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year
This award is given to a female athlete who has competed and excelled in two or more sports during 2021-2022.

Nominees: Brynn Morgan, Avery Fielman, Kennedy Edgar, Lindsay Brown, Mia Gfroerer, Macie Bach, & Ashley Dargis

Award #5: Moment/Highlight of the Year
An athlete or team who has had the most outstanding and memorable moment in a game, match, meet, or competition in the 2021-2022 school year.

Nominees: Competition Cheerleading Team, Luke Ray, Ryan Henke, Girls Varsity Track & Field Team, Varsity Softball Team, & Tofa Luani

Award #6: Male Athlete Career Milestone
A male athlete with an accumulative career milestone or record set during their high school career at Milford.

Nominees: Ryan Henke, Jacob Downs, Keegan Laughlin & Evan Fentress

Award #7: Female Athlete Career Milestone
A female athlete with an accumulative career milestone or record set during their high school career at Milford.

Nominees: Meredith Goff, Erin Fentress, Madalyn Hills & Emily Morgan

Award #8: Male Breakthrough Team of the Year
A male sports team has improved dramatically from the previous year and on the cusp of greatness.

Nominees: Boys Varsity Golf, Varsity Baseball, Boys Varsity Track & Field & Boys Varsity Tennis

Award #9: Female Breakthrough Team of the Year
A female sports team has improved dramatically from the previous year and on the cusp of greatness.

Nominees: Girls Varsity Basketball, Competition Dance Team, Girls Varsity Golf, Girls Varsity Tennis & Girls Varsity Bowling

Award #10 Courageous Student-Athlete Award
The Courageous student-athlete award goes to a student-athlete who has dealt with serious injury, illness, or adversity in their personal life and/or by a family member and overcame a difficult situation.

Recipients: Maddox & Mason Frank and Kourtney Hicks

Award #11: Male Coach of the Year
The male Coach of the Year goes to a Milford coach that has shown passion and dedication for his team and has created an everlasting impact.

Nominees: Michael Neverman, Conor Peck, Josh Clayton, Shane Bartholomew & Matt Tolliver

Award #12: Female Coach of the Year
The female Coach of the Year goes to a Milford coach that has shown passion and dedication for her team and has created an everlasting impact.

Nominees: Jill Helms, Alicia Wall, Christy Gregory & Megan Stilwell

Award #13: Sportsman of the Year
This award is given to an individual male athlete who shows great involvement and positive leadership in their community & school. The Sportsman of the Year is a model example of all the qualities and characteristics we should strive to be as student-athletes at Milford High School.

Nominees: Jacob Hams, Clayton Kemmeter, Adam Horn, Chase Herrell, Jacob Smith, Prince Patel, Evan Fentress

Award #14: Sportswoman of the Year
This award is given to an individual female athlete who shows great involvement and positive leadership in their community & school. The Sportswoman of the Year is a model example of all the qualities and characteristics we should strive to be as student-athletes at Milford High School.

Nominees: Ayla Grabenbauer, Jessica Shay, Ella Lindsay, Paige Ayler, Emily Morgan, Jade Avance, Olivia Genty, Kaylie McKenney, Mia Gfroerer

Award #15: Male Athlete of the Year
The Male Athlete of the Year goes to a male student-athlete who had the most outstanding season and/or year in their respective sport or sports. This includes having a profound impact on their team and notable reputation as a fierce competitor and impact athlete by their team, schools in our league, and around Southwest Ohio.

Award #16: Female Athlete of the Year
The Female Athlete of the Year goes to a female student-athlete who had the most outstanding season and/or year in their respective sport or sports. This includes having a profound impact on their team and notable reputation as a fierce competitor and impact athlete by their team, schools in our league, and around Southwest Ohio.

Award #17: Male Sports Team of the Year
This award goes to a male sports team that shows great strides for their program both on and off the field and has experienced overwhelming team success.

Award #18: Female Sports Team of the Year (Small Team Division)
This award goes to a female sports team with 14 or less on their varsity roster that shows great strides for their program both on and off the field and has experienced overwhelming team success.

Nominees: Girls Varsity Golf, Girls Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Tennis & Girls Varsity Volleyball

Award #19: Female Sports Team of the Year (Large Team Division)
This award goes to a female sports team with 14 or more on their varsity roster that shows great strides for their program both on and off the field and has experienced overwhelming team success.
